can't quite work out what the difference is between the two spec c imprezas featured on the litchfield site.
one is 22k ish and the other 27k ish?
is it just for this stuff?
"17 inch ×7.5jj Aluminium wheel
Electric Colour coded mirrors
Chrome STI gearbox surround and inner door handles
Aluminium STI Pedals
Outside temperature guage
Shiftlight indicator
Central Locking
Manual Air conditioning
Special Black interior trim and fabric
Black paint centre panel & ventilator grille
Passenger Sun visor and grip "
whats the differnce between them that causes such a price differential?
i am keen to explore the options between the models. i would consider an sti or a spec c to replace my wagon at some point, but am confused between some of the model opitions.
the way i really want to go for the next car is to learn from the way i have modified the car i have now and improve on the next attempt.
say if i was to go for the 22,995 spec c.
i would look to fit a motec/gems/pectal ecu straight away to get the best from the car. i also want antilag - not an aggressive antilag, but something that keeps the turbo to about 10 psi vac.
an fmic is proabably best, along with bigger injectors if required.
i want a genuine 400bhp+ / 400 lb/ft motor staright out the box so-to-speak.
i am also wondering what if the fuelling would need to be upgrded in terms of pumps and regs etc.
what is the limitation of the std fuelling equipment?
will i need an fmic or is the std top mount man enough for what i am driving at?
i would be keen to know from people who have any experience with modifying this sort of car.
i also want to know how easy it is to live with the spartan interior that the spec c has compared to a regular sti?
i am probably asking too much as i want some comfort, but at the same time i want as focused a road car i can possibly get!
the thing that really attracts me to the spec c is the price tag. i know i could get more-or-less the same package from the 27 odd k sti in terms of engine and chassis kit, but it is more expensive due i presume to having a snazzier interior and more toys inside? if i want to pursue the modding i mention above the more expensive sti would just not be viable.
i want a car that can do all the above for a under 30k - am i dreaming!?

There are 2 standard versions of the Spec C and one limited version, the 2 standard versions are the 16 inch and 17 inch, this denontes to the wheel size. There are several differences though, you may find that the 16 inch version doesnt have the A-DCCD or the Brembo brakes, it is as stated what they use for stripping out, but then again you can also use the 17 inch version for this too
I will as a Spec C owner give you a word of warning, these are not like any other impreza you have driven, they are harsh and it will take alot of concentration to drive them, even with a tyre change (god forbid as the RE070's are great ) it will still tramline, especially over white lines which can be a bit off putting in the wet. If you can drive one first then do so, and if possible do a back to back, having owned a UK turbo, which was alot better suited to our roads and seemed less demanding to drive, i say that its alot of cash to spend on a car then find you cannot live with it, especially on a daily basis! and even the limited is going to be the same, abeit it may have some additional features but still no soundproofing, and on long journeys it can be tiring.

thats interesting tony, thanks.
i have aqquired further info from litchfield and now understand the differences. i think that the WR would be the one to have, but the price is too much for me.
it may be better to go for an sti, or i could just keep on tuning the wgaon

If you have an hour or so you may wish to have a read through this thread.

It refers to the JDM STi, all the toys of the Spec C but with all the creature comforts for old gits like me.
Mine is running 350/350 ish and I haven't been blitzed by anything on the road, YET.
Nathan..
