HELP ME DECIDE ON A SCOOBY...PLEASE! :-)
Hi all,
I am now in a position to realise a dream: my first scooby! The question is, what to buy? I can just about afford a nice used bugeye STi, although don't even think about asking me about the insurance! :-((
BUT
There are still some very tasty low milage classic shape Turbo 2000s around for about 10k and I could pick up one of those, put the PPP on it and still have quite a bit of change to put torwards the (slightly) less crippling insurance.
I was hoping that some of you might have owned both of these cars and might be in a position to advise. Would I feel short changed with a classic? Can anyone advise on the performance, character and reliability of the PPP for the Turbo 2000.
BTW I'm afraid that imports are out of the question, owing to the fact that I'm not yet 30!
Best wishes.

Performance wise you would not be dissapointed.
Build quality wise, what you do not know, you will not miss.
The new age models are much more solidly built, but the trade off is weight, so a well sorted PPP'd classic is quite a capable car.
Happy hunting

you could do a lot worse than this:
http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=344746
Also just had a brand new set of tyres fitted.
Then spend £1600 on PPP or your choice of aftermarket exhaust / engine remap and you have a seriously quick, stealthy, reliable car.
But then, I would say that.
FYI cars older and less specced than mine can be found at your nearest dealer forecourt for more like £15k
Let me know if you are interested

ED. That's a lovely car with very eye catching a sensible mods and at a great price. However, I'm afraid I can't make you an offer for 2 reasons 1) I don't like green! (sorry) I can see that Its a very handsome example, though 2) I've found an insuance company that will let me install the PPP on a classic at no extra penality. Unfortunately, they won't insure me on the new age impreza owing to its higher grouping! :-( I can get insured on a new age standard and Sti, but any modifications to the standard car would send the premium though the stratosphere! :-(

Best bet would be to drive all models that you're thinking about and see which you prefer. From thereif you prefer the cheaper one, you've got some cash left to play with. & Believe you me you'll end up modding, you can't help it, it just happens!!
Cheers

Hi J4CK5ON,
I know, I don't even have the car yet and I'm allready dreaming up ways to extract more power from it...wondering who to take the car to....but that's another thread! :-)
