The two subaru drivers were not very good. The silver classic started at least half a second behind the Blue cup. Red driver was scared to run with the cup as said in the thread. It makes sense though, I found the classic japanese Impreza I have to be slow when moving and hard for launch.

Yeah. If I see the vids Ill sell the P1 and get a clio cup, drive around with the rear seats out and just a green panel filter , R Sport ECU, de-cat, Magnex exhaust.
I've seen a right old shed last year up at santa pod beat EVERYTHING it was up against. Dunno what it was but it was small, about twenty years old and blue.
Can't see what the big deal is as the Clio in question isn't standard and we don't know what mods if any were on the other cars.

The filter & exhaust mods gain 10bhp at most.
The R Sport ECU doesn't give you any power gains. It improves driveability & ups the rev limit.

The seats account for only 25kg.
Power to weight whats the big surprise that the clio is fast? Everybody knows a high power to weight ratio car will be fast up the strip.
Id imagine the car i saw that was ancient and probably cost £500 would easily whip a clio cup seeing as nothing at all all day managed to beat it up the strip.

What makes me laugh even more is the fact that just because he beat an impreza or 2, all imprezas are slow.
I know it took me a while to master a proper launch in my old impreza, and i know for a fact that the stand clutch is rubbish. Which is the reason why i uprated mine.
1 or 2 launches on a standard clutch will turn it into butter and will make the car useless in a standing start.

a clio cup will beat a lower powerd impreza, theres no shame in it lol
people seam to use scoobs as a benchmark to prove how fast it is "i blew a scooby"
i hear this all the time, this doesnt happen as much with evos, why? because there all high powerd ones, where there is a lot of low powerd imprezas about
read the clio thread, its actualy pretty well posted (apart from the original poster being a bit "I BLOW SCOOBYS") the replys are fine
Both cars never launched properlly, it is tricky to launch a 4wd car, to much power and you can **** the clutch or gear box and to little and it bogs
my lightly modded wrx would **** all over a clio (and has done many a time) never felt the need to go on a clio BBS and post about it tho *rubs hands gleefully* LOL

it wasnt 240bhp wrx when i 1st posted
240 bhp wrx on uk fuel is not even 240bhp, maybe thats another factor

The red Scooby looks like he either missed a gear or went from 2nd to 5th and the Silver Scoob driver was half asleep with those reactions at the start
My missus in the Mazda would have done well against them two lol. Cant see what all the fuss is about they were beat and thats it

I agree it would be a good race and not much in it but those two clips are stupid:-
1. silver car clearly reacts well late and also looks to have changed into second way too early.
2. Red one looks like he misses second gear totally then just coasts to the end of the strip coz he knows he has fooked it up.
I bet there are a few other clips which show his slightly modified cup get batter by a slightly modified scooby.
nuff said.

LOL, doesnt anyone who posts this nonsense realise the car in question whatever it may be has to be driven by someone, and guess what we dont all have the same level of driving expertise..............shocking isn't it.

Point 1: Clio has a 2 litre engine in a car weighing significantly less
Point 2: Clio suffers from a lot less in the way of transmission losses, and difference in power at the wheels won't be that great.
The place the Subaru should get the advantage is on launch: it can put all power down more effectively.
It is not terribly surprising that people are discovering that there's other cars out there that beat subarus...
...but for those who think they've got the fastest car on the road , this may be a surprise. It really shouldn't be.

Yeah, big deal. My 2.0 16V nova would run high 13's at approx 105MPH terminal. All it had was exhaust, filter and remap. The whole car cost me less than £2500 including the mods. The reason I sold it and changed to a Subaru is because it was a bitch to drive....wheels still spinning on changing into 4th at ~90ish (and that was in the dry). I can use the Subaru's performance whatever the weather and although it can be a little tricky to get off the line, once you get it right it flies.
