Problem STi 8 Seats ... Unsupportive
Am very tempted with an STi 8 PPP and I love everything about the car except the seats.
I have previously owned an STi 7, Terzo and Catalunya, all of which had great seats. The STi 8 on the other hand, I feel like I am sat 'on' the seat rather than 'in ' the seat. On a test drive, cornering quickly, I felt like I was hanging on to the steering wheel just to stop myself falling out of the seat.
Has anyone else found this? Any ideas for a solution?

Eat more pies?
Seriously, I think the '02 STI (bugeye) had narrower, deeper seats that I preferred, but the newer cars have the same wider seats as the US car which needs to accommodate the... um... well, fatter ar*e.
Maybe you could find someone with an '02 STI and arrange a swap?

Nope !!
I bought a set of STi 8 seats (as well as the rest of the interior) for my MY02 bugeye and they seem much narrower and lower. I now have to remove keys etc from trouser pockets to sit in the car
They are different................ brilliant with empty pockets !!

I think thats right, in order of largeness: -
MY02STI(Bug) seats are the narrowest - I too have to empty my pockets
MY03/04STI seats are the next largest, though still quite narrow, if you're fat!
MY02(Bug) WRX seats next lardyness level
MY03/04 (Blob) Completely lardy and large - suitable for all Americans
As an aside, I originally wanted a WRX sooooo much that I had to go on a diet to fit in the seat. My target was to fit in to the MY02 WRX seat, but in the end I lost 5 1/2 stones and treated myself to an MY02 STI. It's still a tight fit though.....

lol Good one Shytot.
Glad you saw sense and opted for the STi.
As for the seats i never knew they were different sizes from the models but now i know eh!
Also MY01 WRX STi (bugeye) seats fit me perfectly as im a bit on the skinny side...

I've got a skinny ar$e and find the MY03 STi seats ok from that point of view. Its the lack of lumbar support that pains me. My old Golf GTI had a lumbar adjustment that was heaven. Its the only thing I miss about it...that and the superior build quality. But nothing else!

Thanks..that explains the keys digging in !!
Completely off topic but is the STi steering wheel on STi 7/8 's smaller in diameter than the WRX bugeye one's. They come up on e-bay from time to time and I quite fancy one

Weren't you recently selling an STi 8 PPP?????
Clicky
Why would you be "tempted" into buying one, if you are currently selling one?
And if you are selling one, why are you going for "test drives" in one????

Talizman,
Well spotted ... Did sell my STi a few weeks ago .. was after an M3 SMG .. long, frustrating story but didn't get it.
Am sat in a £500 runabout Orion and can't find the right spec'd M3 I want so am considering all the options (one of which includes another STi) but also includes 911, M3, Boxster, etc. Took one for a test drive to remind myself what I liked and disliked about it!
