Need some advice?
Hello i am a new member to this site, Hopefully by the end of august i will have enough money to buy an impreza . Ive should have about £12k to spend but im torn between buying an import or a uk car. The dealers have said they wont touch an import, they are full of problems and servicing is a problemis this true? This is going to be a big step up from the mazda 323 gti i own allready and i need to make the right choice before i go out and buy it?
can anyone help i would be very greatful
cheers

Hiya there!
It all depends on what your after, dont go for all that bull the subaru uk dealers give you
Your first problem i feel is going to be insurance, depending on your age id consider a uk car (as we dont know your age and most insurance co's wont touch imported cars for under 30's).
Secondly, you can have just as many problems with a uk car as you can with an import, the biggest problem with the imports is fuel, they need 100/102 ron fuel where as a uk spec car can run on 95 ron (but you should really run it on 97/98 ron fuel).
As for what you can pick up for 12k... lots of scoobs but you should be looking at an MY00 classic or an MY01 bug eye, on a JDM car it will probably be more like an MY00 car, wrx or STi, even an MY99....
Have a peek here anyway, some nice info www.sidc.co.uk and look under faq.

£12k will buy you a private sale bugeye, but not one from a main dealer - they're seldom under £13k. As for servicing imports, it depends on the dealer: one near me is happy to do them. But I'd advise getting the car imported for you via a reputable dealer (I'll just plug Chris and Rob here) rather than buy a car already imported as the quality should be better. If you get one already in this country make sure you know something about seller and car - and get an expert to check it out, not the RAC.

the dealer had it up for £11,995 with 26k on a V plate is that about the right money? also are the imported WRX`s alot more powerfull?
