Farmer.
My local main dealer (Berks) would have serviced my WRX Sti V but I took it to a specialist due to lower cost. Main dealers servicing Jap spec cars have been around for 12 months or so.

I've spoken to a couple of dealers recently. One was more than happy to service a JDM car, provided they have the parts and their diagnostic system can communicate with the ECU. The other was rather more hesitant, but certainly didn't say 'no'.
My worry is that franchised dealers do, in theory at least, have an interest in making UK supplied cars look like a good option compared to grey imports; obviously that's not really possible in terms of spec or value, but in terms of reliability...

My local dealer said he could lose his franchise if he was caught servicing JDM imports - think it was ok with Euro ones though.
But he owns another garage nearby and said if I booked it in there he would send a Subaru trained technician there to work on it.
Makes me kind of believe his first statement as he obviously wants my business and will be flexible to get it. If it was ok to service JDM's he would have just done it at the dearlership presumably.
