Just did an indicated 158!
Still buzzing after a mapping session with Pat in the passenger seat - det cans on with computer gadgetry on his lap. No detting, vibrations or other strange noises in fact the car felt really stable. It was like I was in an awesome 3D computer game with a sound track to match.
Got out of the car and noticed that the back of my shirt and jeans were damp with sweat. Terrifying but wickedly good fun!

Hmmm, I am pretty certain that scooby speedo's are a little out when at silly speeds. I've had my UK MY96 at an indicated 160mph (on a private test track of course). Only mods are K&N panel filter, Revolution de-cat downpipe and Revolution 3" system.

my GPS streepilot V says 145mph, my speedo 160mph - although, at those speeds it is a bit frightening looking down!
also, sometimes, depending on the wind conditions, the bugeye aluminium bonnet starts to resonate creating a wierd sound like the whole car is going to explode. You can actually see it shimmering!

My speedo reads exactly 10% more than the Road Angel.
I.e. at indicated 160 I would actually be doing 145 - same as rapiddescent
I know what you mean about the Bugeye bonnet too - scares the crap out of me - can just seeing it ripping off and decapitating me lol

STi V - Link ECU, 3" turbo back exhaust, APS front mount & CAI, fuel pump and reg with 1/2 tank of Optimax (no octane booster).
I had the opportunity a while back to check the accuracy of my speedo with a Race Logic Vbox system (pretty much an industry standard for figuring cars) and it was surprisingly accurate (my speedo that is) although I'm sure at big speeds it would be less so. See here http://img8.photobucket.com/albums/v...8-3820_IMG.jpg
It seemed to run out of gearing actually or maybe it hit the aerodynamic brick wall. Either way it didn't take to long to get there. I would think with just me in the car it would probably inch over 160. Maybe with a bigger turbo and fuel to match it would get to 170 but 158 would be enough for handcuffs, court appearance and a piece in the local newspaper if I wasn't on my own private airfield.

My STI4 speedo is pretty much deadly accurate until 40mph.
Once above that it's pants.
Indicated 100mph is 90, but that's quite nice, because it keeps you safer, if you see what I mean.
Verified by my new RoadAngel and GPS units.

Do any of you guys get a loud winning sound at high speed? This happens at about 120 (sometime lower if there is a head wind). Sounds like it comes from the drivers side of things.
This on a 04 sti thanks
PS the rear wing flexing is a bit disconcerting...! If any1 could get close enough to see it at speed, I'm sure they'd soon back off lol

I've seen 158 @ 6K revs in 5th on my road angel -speedo was totally off the clock) whilst out mapping with Pat (on an airfield of course)
PLENTY fast enough for me that was...
@ Sso I managed the 'flyer' at 143.9 thru the trap with plenty of revs to spare
not bad fer a UK car

Sorry, couldn't resist.
Seriously, just wind noise around the A pillar/front window seals on mine.

Dazza, Si,
Cheers lads. I thought it would be something like that. Its very annoying!
Full ICE upgrade is in the pipe line. I'll rip out that s**ite plastic crap when I'm doing the front speakers.
Thanks again
