Default Posting pics of your car with No. plate!!!

Why do people always post pics of thier cars with the number plate NOT BLANKED out

With all the problems we have at the moment why give such information out for others to see who could use this for clone-ing or gatso evasion???

Unhappy Get a life!

In my experience its only the scooby brigade that are paranoid about this.
Fair enough there may be valid reasons but if you go to (for example) the NBO where common sense says lots of pictures will be taken then it should be up to you to blank your numberplate, not the photographer.
Don't complain its too much hassle etc, it costs sod all to put a bit of tape across your plate or even get some 'show' plates made up.

I blank them, though not sure why.

What interests me, is your worry about not blanking them. If I give you my number plate what can you do with it?

You can use the RAC thing to see when it last changed hands but thats it.

Question

I've lost count now how many people have taken piccies of my car with camera phones (Outside Matalan, Supermarket Car Parks, even sat at traffic lights). Guess that means it'll be on all sorts of chav sites Number plate an all.
The police got a lovely scamera photo of it too
Guess it helps from a non cloning point of view if your motor is kinda unique & difficult to copy in a hurry!

If i post pics of other cars i always blank the plates basically because i'm not in a position to ask every owner whether they are happy or not to have them visible. I think it's the better option. All my own opinion like

I've blanked them in the past because that's what the majority on here seemed to do but then I thought about it and decided there was no point, unless I covered them up on the road too and, whilst I can see some advantages in doing that I didn't think Mr Plod would be too happy
