Fill your tank to 1/4 to keep weight down?
After reading that a full fuel tank can way up to 55kg, surely it's better to top your tank up to 1/4 to keep the weight down?.. does this make sense to anyone?...

The speed my needle drops in the bottom quarter of the gauge I'd never make it to the end of the street. I seem to get 240 miles from the 1st 3/4 and about 10 from the last bit

I never like putting more than 20 quid in the tank unless I'm going on a long journey. I know its probably stupid, but the reasoning behind is this: Incase she gets robed, the @$%$^@& won't be getting a full tank off fuel to enjoy them self's, also they will prob have to stop to fill up at some point. Petrol stations = CCTV which = higher chance of catching the @#%^!&%. What ever makes you feel better hey

I always fill back up to the brim, having run down each time to low, although not to stage where refuel light has come on. OK, so fuel tank contents weigh a lot at first, but weight gradually comes off. The weight issue probably equals out over time - plus going out of your way (to find optimax) in order to keep topping up to 1/4 full wastes time and fuel.

Surely the extra kilos are easily overcome by the torque of the car, and any difference is so minimal with everyday driving you wouldn't even notice. If you were driving some chav Fiesta 'sport' then that would be a different story.....

Rougly speaking, a full tank will add about half a second to your standing 1/4.
Plenty of people, in all sorts of cars, spend a lot of time and cash shaving off tenths.
Mebbe you think that's funny, but I guess others don't...
Gutmann pug, I take it you weren't being serious?

If a full tank weighs 55kgs (actually i think it'd be a bit more than that), then it's like having an extra person in the car compared to when it's empty. That's certainly noticeable...

Tank = 60 litres = 44kg approx.
M/Y 00 has a fuel light. You could have 20-40mls left when the light comes on depending on the car.
The unusable fuel left in the tank varies but is generally between six and two litres. ie to the brim from running out will take 54-58 litres.
Not a good idea to run it low continually.
