Not Happy !!!!!!!!!!!!
I know I shouldnt but I was temped into a sprint with an escort cosworth last night. I was at the lights and was doing ok until about 60mph when he slowly overtook me. I then backed off as I did not want to stack my baby. I did not miss a change and was quite impressed with myself in a remorseful way. Point is I need more power without sacrificing reliability. I have a mint uk 99 impreza with 50k on the clock and only a scooby sports back box. What is the next step. Do I go for a full decat with filter? What sort of power would I get?

Get the monitoring stuff before getting more power...Knocklink and Lambda link. Make sure the tyres and brakes are spot on as well. Decat and filter is a good start then go for a reliable ECU upgrade.

Hi Aaquil, thanks for replying, brakes are brand new and work spot on as are wheels and tyres. Call me thick but what does a Knocklink do and a Lambda link do, how much are they roughly and where in Essex can I get this installed?

Ha Pudders. The joys of losing out to Escort Cosworths. Funnuily when I first purchased my 97 UK Turbo I had a similar encounter.
Went for a few choice upgrades and now making circa 330bhp. Met the same Escort a few times throughout my upgrading process and the gaps just getting bigger and bigger. Best bit is the guys face when you tell him the car is still standard.
Only downside I guess is the cost of the upgrades........
Good luck

Pudders, for cheap(ish) power increases.
Panel filter, STI group N, or JR filters seem to be the most recommended. With the my99 maf issues I would go for the sti grp N as it is a cotton only filter no oil at all. these are avaialble at scoobymania. £50 The JR is oiled but you wouldnt know it, these are £37.
Get a downpipe and centre section. scoobyworld provide hayward and scott sections, they have recently started doing a centre section with a resonantor to keep cabin noise down. £320 for both.
Remap if you get on a group buy maybe £600 ish normal is £763.
This is doing it the cheap way and getting mail order parts and arranging fitting or doing it yourself.
xtreme scoobies who are also in essex would be a good place to call if you wanted it all done in one place. A friend has a my99 wagon with pretty much this spec and a remap and his put out 278bhp and 255lbft on PE rollers.
