Default I give up trying to keep it nice.

A few years ago I picked up my Scoob. The paint work was mint.

Since then a stone / small rock was thrown up from the central res on a motorway, large dent on bonnet removing a large amount of paint, three chips on roof. (Grass was being cut)

Two dent's put in either side of the car from other cars doors being whammed into mine.

A light key mark on drivers door. (Could have been me)

Another dent on bonnet from motorway driving with various smaller marks from motorway driving.

Alloys have got dammaged from being forced up a kurb due to oncomming car deciding it wanted my side of the road as well while it was racing another.

Another dent in lower door, haven't a clue how that could happen.

Then to top it of, I open my door into a brick, denting and chipping the paint. Arrrrrrrrrrrrgh. I walked off thinking sod it. No one else cares so why should I.

So a question to you people with mint paintwork after all these years....HOW THE F U C K HAVE YOU MANAGED IT????? Bubblewrap?

The front of mine is immaculate after 92000 miles.. I simply used the car infront to stop when it cut me up, and got Tesco's to pay for it to be restored to new

Actually, that's a bit of a tempter. My current car has picked up a similar series of minor scuffs and scratches after 5 years. Now I am looking at getting it tidied it up and sold to make room for the WR1.

Every time someone pulls out in front of me now, it crosses my mind that a low-speed, non-fault prang could be a bit of a bonus. Never quite had the nerve to ease up on the brake a touch, or to perhaps not turn the wheel as much as I might. Yet.

Scary to think that other people might think like me, innit?

I've always wanted a really strong, very beaten up Land Rover for occasions like that

Talking Exterior surgery

Don't forget, you know your car intimately, so notice everything thats wrong with it. When you look at someone elses car, you don't notice the warts, bumps and scratches, but on closer inspection you might see a few. Kinda like looking at your own face in the mirror and thinking god i'm ugly - the first things you notice are the bits you don't like!

When I bought my red Scoob second-hand, I made sure all the dinks, scratches and paint blemishes were sorted out, including bonnet & bumper resprays. Still don't look too bad, apart from a load more dinks, scratches, a dent in the boot from hitting bike rank, a big car-park dent in the drivers door (windy day (not me)).

Sooner or later I'll get it all sorted in one go and it'll look like new again.

Wilster.

after getting the bonnet resprayed coz the side pillar had been stoved in by a visitor from USA land I had heard that there was a product that you could put on the front edge of the bonnet to stop the little silly stone chips. Between getting the car back and thinking I must find out about the strip that goes on the bonnet I picked up a new stine chip so never bothered to find out.
I have also wondered how other people keep their car to show standards!!

LOL at above.

Ok, so mine doesn't seem as bad as first thought. Just annoying when it was mint.

Using another car to stop is kind of an extreme way to sort bonnet chips.
