I am soon to recieve a handfull of letters to make up the S.U.B.A.R.U boot badge.

Can anyone tell me the correct location (i.e distance from the bottom edge of the Boot) and the character spacing (character center to character center). Plu the overall width of the words SUBARU.

It is a slow day at work so here goes.

on my MY 99 UK 4dr car it is as follows
50mm down to the top of the letters from the swage line (crease) in the boot lid - this equates to 120mm to the bottom of the letters to the bottom lip of the boot

letter spacing 23mm apart.

the SUBARU text is centered.

I have a few suggestions for you.

Lay out the letters on a flat surface and get the spacing equal @ 23mm spacing. Lay out a piece of masking tape below the letters and mark/indicate on the tape the letters and spacing onto the top edge of the tape for a reference. offer this up to the boot lid and get it centered and level and in a line with the top edge of the tape at 120mm from the bottom boot lip. You can then attach the letters evenly, centered and level.

That's much appreciated.

Just one thing tho. Are the letters 23mm apart - center to center or are the gaps between each letter 23mm.

I shall probably do as you mentioned with the masking tape...

are the letters elf adhesive or is it sillicone sealant time?

I'd not thought about using Silicone Sealant. I may try that.

I usually use the small double sided pads that are used for sticking rear view mirrors on (you can get them in halford). It's what I used for my now Red 'I' badge on the Front Grill.

The letters I have are second hand so they will probably need a clean up and then I'll use one of the above.

Dave - good to hear from you - in a word NO - I was supposed to be off this week relaxing and stuff - sh*t hit the Fan Friday - Bloody clients and all that - came in today and done nufink!. Still off for the rest of the week bar a meeting tomorrow afternoon.
