I know that this has been covered a few times before !!

But I am having new rubber fitted tomorrow and have a choice dilemma..

On 17" wheels do I go for 205x45x17 or 215x40x17 ?

Quick answers please !!

Correct me if I am wrong but you can only buy I tyre in the 205/45/17 size and thats the pirreli pzero and they cost about £150 each but there is more choice, Bridgestone, Toyo, Falken etc available in the 215/40/17 @ about £100 each

So let me get this straight...

My car came with 205/45 zr 17s. can I put 215s on there then? isn't that too wide for the rim?

Both sizes are fine.

As Jake says, there is far less choice in 205/45 (Pirelli PZero and Yokohama 520 are the only ones I know)

The 215/40 offers up a wider choice, including the highly rated Bridgestone S02s.

I'd go for S02s or Goodyear F1s in that size.

Cheers

Fosters,

215/40 sits fine on the standard 7x17 rims. You do have to drop to the 40 profile tho, as a 215/45 could give problems.

I'm pretty sure the car has 205/45 as standard for 17" cos Prodrive have a deal with Pirelli, and that's the best match from the PZero range.

will 215s give a little more protection against kerbs when parallel parking then?

Cool

I thought that the only choice on 205x45x17 were pzero or yoko's (I had them previously).

But Ive just been offered Falken's at a good price.

Does this sound right ??
