returning from the dark side with a spec c hopefully
bought a nice evo 7 but not really floating my boat so to speak.
seen a nice spec c 2003 my and have a few questions maybe you nice people can answer....
is the spec c just a track car?
how harsh is it?
can you use in everyday situations if required?
does anyone on here have one to share experiences about
servicing, running costs etc etc????
thanks in advance

I hope you change your pants as often as you change your cars.
Nice to see you returning, and can't wait to see what you get and how good you make it. I still say your 8 was one of the best lookers ever.

Brian,
what can i say, the grass is always greener and looks better until you jump over the fence and it's covered in weed killer (deep eh)....
the evo is a nice car but not as nice as the scooby imho
was told that once on the dark side u will never want to come back well i do
can't really put my finger on it sorry.
layout inside very bland, trims rattle.
miss the flat 4 burble and miss the crack with the lads so going to give it another go in the scooby.....

Andy, will be nice to see you at the Bridge, just don't go this month, we're all going karting instead of the usual meet. I'll probably pop along to Buckles next month as now the light nights are here there may be some more interest, so I might see you there.

You wont get burble with a spec C they have equal length headers
They are harsh but you could live with one day to day
Why not a JDM spec STI a better alround car IMHO
Cue Tony Burns ..................

i just test drove the spec c thats for sale, might be the same one, i bought an evo 8 gsr, not sure if ill be back like you, but i love both cars, just wanted to try something different, the spec c is a great car, really fast and drives well, just a little noisey when u wind it up, in every day driving its fine. Personally though i would prefer a gl full options than a spec c, just my preference, not much in it for speed and more comforts and better for day to day, also spec c looks super bland, but thats ok if its what u want, its a real wolf in sheeps clothing, looks plainer than a basic wrx.

Just start filtering a little away each week Andy...
She who must be obeyed will never know
I do agree with Jason above I would like some comfort and a few extras for every day use....... if you are not carefull you buy a Spec C then end up buying side skirts, spoiler, 19" wheels and a huge list of other mods.... you had the STI8 if my memory serves me.... you know better then most matey.

Well the spec c everyone was raving about seemed to be the one from Litchfield Imports with a reprogrammed ECU. But if as said above you got Powerstation to fit AST coilovers it has better handling than a standard spec c, more compliant and the ability to handle bumps much better.
Also Bob Rawle has been doing amazing things with his STI 9 (8?) and had very impressive power figures from it with just a remap, Janspeed exhaust and sti panel filter.
The truth is out there, and it has Subaru printed on the bonnet!

If the trim's rattling, turn the music up
oh, and the 'lads' still speak to me (sort of )
Keep the Evo, and get a nice loan for the T25, hey presto, best of both worlds.
Seriously, whatever you do, get yourself to a bridge meeting. (I'll be parked in a quiet corner looking lonely)

just my 2 peneth, but I agree with Sticky about the sound. In everyday "normal" driving the Subaru wins on sound, but WOT is a different matter. I thought the EVO sounded the best of them all at our recent track day.
But no one in their right mind buys a car just on sound alone
(or do we )
Phil
PS Have to agree with CB that your Sti8 Looked the DD's Andy

Hi Andy,
I could sell you a cracking STI 8 if your interested.Looks the business with 19" rims and black windows.OOHH,and that sound is just fantastic.Seriously,i am enjoying the car very much, ive just had it serviced, and once i had fixed the rear window from creaking,im very happy with it.I think you have to make your own mind up as to wether its a Scoob or Evo.I cant count how many times i have swopped and changed.I like them as much as each other. At the moment i enjoy tootling around listening to the warble of the engine, and only really give it some when i am in the mood for it.After years of thinking about these two cars it comes down to this;- the Evo is faster and more hardcore, the Subaru is more usable and has more character.I love driving the Subaru at all times, wheras sometimes if i was not in the right frame of mind, i would walk past the Evo and get in my Fiat Punto to go wherever.I have noticed that the Subaru is not as easy to drive fast as the Evo,in the respect that the Evo is ready for it in whatever gear you are in,and with the Subaru you have to be in the right gear and rev range to really get the performance. They are both fantastic cars and we should all be gratefull that they exist, but youve got to choose one or the other.Regards, SIMON.
