I'm no expert, but from what I've heard the later cars (i.e post classic) seem to to be a little more sensitive to changes away from standard spec when it comes to trouble codes and the light coming up ????
It should'nt be too hard too have it checked to see what is the exact cause of the light coming up ????

if cats have been removed you need to check if the CEL (check engine light) fix has been added.
otherwise it will give the light a few miles after a reset, usually on a part-throttle cruise.
if you need a CEL fix, sometimes known as an 02 fix, they are readily available for about £45, DIY fit.
hope this helps.

If you want to clear the trouble code (i.e get the light out) it should do it if you disconect the battery earth lead for a short while.
Obviously the light will illuminate once again as and when the said 'fault' is detected.

Do the main dealers charge much for a re-set do you know ????

Slight mistake on my previous post, the car has not been decat, It has just got a modified centre section (silencer removed) & Scoobysport Rear Box. Only other mods are a fluttery Dump Valve & The Powerchip. So I cant clear this error myself? My Main worry, is that when I take it to Subaru, with them mods, can they void the warranty??

oh yes believe me. take that anywhere near a scoob dealership and they will have that reg clocked and the mods for future reference. they may give you a bit of leway with the zorst system, but a powerchip, nae way. these dealerships are looking for any excuses not to pay out. take my word.
best bet mate, is forget subaru dealerships, take it to a reputable garage that deals in performance cars, it wont cost you the earth. leave subaru dealerships for major warranty issues such as engine failure ect, where you have the time to get shot of the mods on your car.

if you approach the wrong dealer directly then yes, you could have a warranty problem.
without a decat downpipe it won't be the CEL for that.
Is the light flashing or static?
Does it have a boost gauge? If so, what's the peak boost?
The dealer may charge you to reset the light, but it would be wise to find out what is causing it in case there is a problem, although its probably something simple.
where abouts are you? could do with someone locally with deltadash to read the fault code.

I am in Tunbridge Wells in Kent, how would I get the powerchip removed I don't have the original chip! The Light is static, so not as serious as flashing I believe!

don't panic about removing the chip just yet, first find out what is causing the problem.
do you know who fitted it, or where it was fitted?
did you have any occurrences of 'fuel cut', ie sudden and violent loss of power, whilst accelerating hard?
some faults will clear from the ECU (although the 02 one wont) so you *may* find it clears on its own after a few start / stop cycles.
however, even if it clears, I'd want to know what it was.
your best bet for specialists in your locale are BR Developments http://www.brdevelopments.com/info.html (keep your eye open for bob rawle on here, massively knowledgeable) and http://www.powerengineering.co.uk/
either of the above will be able to sort this for you without warranty complications.

as said in previous posts.. You cant clear the CEL yourself on new age cars, go to a reputable subaru specialist (non dealer) and get it on the select moniter. It'll show what is at fault and they can reset the CEL.

on that model year it's probably going to show a missfire on a cylinder for which if there isn't one then you can get a new desensitised ecu which cures it. but it will be bye bye superchip and the ecu has to go back to subaru which means they will spot it. and stop all warranty submissions on that car

Hmm...
I have a MY02 which used to throw up CEL code P0420 (I think) with a the red engine light because of messing with cats / exhaust !! Finally sorted by Bob "guru" Rawle from BR Developments...
RRH suggestion of scooby specialist in your area best bet .........

I got my dealer to replace it under warranty and all's been well since.Mine did similar things to yours ie High revs at times the CEL would flicker on and sometimes stay on.I think it IS a known problem so if I were you I'd look at obtaining a replacement cam position sensor (Rather than cleaning the existing one)
Good luck
