SIDC Membership query
#6
Membership runs from 1st October to 30th September, but has anyone joined outside these dates, and if so what happened?
I'd like to join now but not if I have to renew in October.
I can't find a number to call for enquiries.
Any help appreciated...

Anders is on the SIDC committee and is the acting Media/PR guy I believe, should be able to get you a response quickly.

(If this was a nonsense post I'd say use Harj's memebership number - 666, but it isn't so I won't)

Any idea if SIDC could get 10 percent discount from some unoffical dealers for part's and servicing (scoobysport? GGR, PE, etc...)
Why? well I, and many others here, have imports, thus the 10 percent off is useless to us.

My understanding is that you pay the 20 quid and then pay another 20 quid in september. This issue has been rasied before I think.
I believe the reason is due to the fact that SIDC is non profit organisation, and thus it's running is handled by volunteers, and with around 1000+ members the admin of varying membership dates, etc is mind numbing, thus the reason why the membership is the way it is.

I think that unless someone gets paid for the running of the SIDCs accounts/memberships etc (I believe it volunteers unpaid at mo) that this won't be changed. It is far too time consuming, although I totally agree with everyones dismay at paying 20 notes for a months membership. It may not be the money thats the problem but the principle.

I would have thought it would be less hassle to do 15 months membership in 1 go, rather than process an application for 3 months, then an application for 12 months.
(Ignoring the fact that the SIDC are taking in more funding for the second method).
It's principle and money. I didn't become a multi-millionaire by giving away cash for nothing in return. (Wait a minute I didn't become a multi-millionaire )
I think it's a matter of common sense and fairness on the part of the SIDC.
How about if all future mid-season joiners paid pro rata subs PLUS next years at the same time? Surely that is workable?
Anyone form the SIDC Committee reading this?

I suggested pro-rata payment when I tried to join a few weeks ago - but it was a no - pay £20 now, and £20 again in Sept. Allegedly though, wait until August 1st - and pay £20 for 13 months!
Before I get flamed for trying to swindle SIDC - I want to join, and I want to pay my subs - but I'm not stupid enough to pay £20 for just over a months membership, sorry. I'll apply in August and gratefully hand over £20.
