So you have got to start paying insurance premium even b4 you get the car..
or do you get a cover note with a date of insurance starting in a few weeks?

I had a month left on the insurance for my P1 (which I sold last week) so just had it cut over onto the WR1. But I would imagine just a cover note is enough, as alot of people will still be insuring their current cars

I would have thought the Cover note was required to Tax it when they register it in your name .......

Correct, the car must be registered before the PPP is installed.

Yep, A legal loophole for IM. Something to do with emission regs...

As I understand, it is for type approval - as in, they don't need it!

Surely they can register the car and therefore fit the PPP without having to have it insured yet, as it won't be on the road....

Or does it need to be taxed for PPP fitment?

It needs to be sold & in your ownership, so registered, taxed & insured.

Sort-of. The full reason is that the car's emissions, CO2 bracket and so-on are taken in "standard" 265ps form. In order to maintain this, the PPP is, officially speaking, an aftermarket add-on, and thus must be fitted after the car has been registered and ownership transferred to the customer. So yes, it needs to be in full roadworthy condition (inc VED) before the PPP is fitted.

I ordered my car on 31st January and I am 1st on the dealers list, let us know what number u get. Why do they want an insurance cover note to register the car? I didn't think this was required as long as they had your personal details.

Cover note required before they can tax it. Needs to be "ready for the road" (i.e. registered, taxed and insured) before the PPP can be fitted.

Mid March.........but have been moved to dealer's No.1 position!!

Insurance is now sorted................Privilege (What nice people)!!

They're insuring two cars temporarily for less than the price of one!!

The WR1 has reduced my premium by ~£160 (~£190 for a year).............I currently have a 52 reg Sti UK PPP!!
