Default ouch - that's gotta hurt (insurance)

Elephant.co.uk have decided to incerase my premium on my 03WRX from £1100 to £1850 for this year! Aren't they nice people?

anyway - I will be looking around for better quotes and doing 1 of 3 things:
1 - get a better quote
2 - fitting a trakker to get a better quote
3 - selling the thing and get a cheaper car to insure

i got a holiday to pay for in May, got to tax and service the WRX in April, maybe another baby on the way too.

if i sell it i'll be gutted - 1st impreza i've had and i've loved it - but if i sell it - what will i replace it with - only an Audi S4 turns me on at the moment but can't afford one!

Wish i had an elephant gun!

what has changed within a year to warrant a premium hike of about £700!

If you're over 30, try Liverpool & Victoria

I found Tracker did NOT reduce any premiums when I was shopping around. Previously with Churchill Approx 700 did some mods and they wouldn't touch it. Went to Liverpool and Victoria and they were cheaper even with mods. Touch wood I havent had to claim from them but they were the cheapest I could find

Liverpool Victoria had the cheek to increase my premium when the PPP went on by a massive £8 so i paid up
What i like about L & V though is the 73.5% NCD i have is not just protected it's guaranteed so no loss of NCD for me whatever happens

privilege will cahrge a fortune for extra mods, they have a flat fee for percentage increasing mods and for styling mods, i used to be with them then i swapped to liverpool-victoria and my insurance droped from £1200 to £700

I used Confused.com to get shed loads of quotes without having to ring round all afternoon.

The worst quote was £6300 (I joke not), with the best at £1500 coming from...Elephant.co.uk.

i think that elephant gave me a low quote last year just to get the new business - hoping that i'd just renew - PAH!

i'll try L&V cos everyone mentions that name when you talk insurance

anyone else found out how trakkers affect premiums? is it worth it.

Elephant qouted me £750 for MY01 wrx and Bell Direct who im with qouted me £900 on my renewal, rang Bell Direct up to cancel and was told they could match price as its their sister company. Why the **** didnt they offer me that price in the first place ,would have saved me hours searching for cheapest on internet?Seems like insurance companies want to shaft you no matter how long you have been with them.

Didnt elephant used to advertise the fact that if you were renewing your policy without any changes in circumstances they would guarantee you the same price as the last year which ever your previous insurer was? If it wasnt elephant it was another one of these only online insurers

I got my renewal through from Norwich union direct, it went up to 900 quid so i phoned around, everyone wanted tracker etc and quoted silly money until I rang L&V, 733 quid, no tracker, unlimited mods unless i up the CC's and best of all the person on the end of the phone was speaking from bournemouth not BOMBAY, Norwich union, listen to your customers

....in my experience installing a tracker never decreases your premium - it just seems to be a deciding factor as to whether some insurance companies will insure you AT ALL, or not

Default Direct Line

Direct line and they require Tracker, Alarm(cat1 etc), NCD.

Tracker doesnt reduce premium, just allows DL to insure you.

Privilege and DirectLine are really the one company.
