Now I Know Why RAs Are So Loved! :D
despite my car orginally starting life as a 260PS WRX and now donning a steel bonnet instead of ally, the recently installed V2 RA spec engine (just run in and serviced) makes it go like, well, let's just say its scarily fast IMO!
its due for a remap a week on Saturday (currently @ 1.3 bar) and has a fuel cut/overboost/hesitation type problem under full load from low rpm in 2nd, 3rd & 4th. but even part throttle acceleration in the midrange is furious and not much noticeable lag from the TD05.
presumably this is down to the cam profile and FMIC??? the car is just so much more torquey, despite the longer geared UK box. i can't wait for it to be mapped, especially if we can raise boost some. makes it hard to comprehend the performance in cars like Harvey's!
anyway, i owe gratitude for this 7day build (last December) and installation to the chaps at Scoobyclinic, who have now also restyled my front end to give other motorists fair warning what is about to be unleashed upon them
well done Scoobyclinic - i'm still mega-chuffed with the car, it was always pretty good but its now the best its ever been!

Ps thats quite a lot of boost!
pics are here. i think the engine should be capable of handling the boost. spec is as follows:
closed deck block
V2 RA heads/cams/gaskets/bearings etc
strengthened crankshaft
forged pistons (short skirt)
oil jet conrods
solid lifters
performance oil pump
WRX inlet manifold (same across the range i think)
APS FMIC
TD05
walbro fuel pump
440cc injectors
FSE adj. fuel reg
piper-X induction
Forge VTA
full decat (open neck dp)
think thats about it!

still over my head in terms of benefit etc! i'm running UK spec box and diff, which works better than i expected with this engine. what, if you don't mind me asking, is the benefit of the plated LSD?

Not a good explanation! You'd need to try one.

my main problem handling wise is pronounced understeer at the moment. think my rear ARB is adjusted too taught, plus i have crap tyres on at the minute. will see how P-Zero Neros fear when its time to change.
