S.E.C.S. Engine Data Monitor
I going to get an S.E.C.S. Engine Data Monitor just wondering if anyone’s got the VACUUM FLUORESCENT DISPLAY version and if it’s worth paying £90 more for than the Liquid Crystal Display version
Also where’s the cheapest place to buy them from at the moment?

Had a VFD SECS for about 3 Months, The display is a lot clearer to read and is not effected by the cold mornings that some owners where getting. I think you can chose between Blue, green or red filters. The unit spec and features remain the same as the standard unit.

I've got a VFD SPECS in blue/silver, I think it looks better and a bit less "Maplin" than the LCD.
I bought it from Scoobyworld, good friendly service and they got it to me when they said they would.

Sorry to jump in on the thread, but just wondered why Nigels sold his so soon ?
I'm about to buy one of these this week, wanna make sure I get something thats ok.
If they VFD ones are available in green, i reckon I'll spend the extra.
Cheers for any info folks.

From a Guy called Clive Atowe in Norwich. He does the Ecutek re-maps in my area, and he tells me that Ecutek are bringing their own version of this out this week.
It looks identical to the S.E.C.S. unit, in fact I think its just a re-badged version of it.
Just waiting on a price for it. I'm after one for a 00MY Turbo with dash mount pod. What year are you after ?

Matt Classic,
Have not sold it! "Had a VFD SECS for about 3 Months"
Ment to say, "Have had a VFD SECS for about the last 3 Months.
Have since added the shift light which works fine.

I think they are damned expensive - way overpriced - but do give a lot of info.
Be very careful though, as I found a lot of the features listed, didnt actually work on my MY car.
I appreciate they have to cover R&D costs etc etc, and its a powerful bit of kit, but AndrewC made a very similar one for not a lot of money at all....

I've got a SECS on my MY02 bugeye... very interesting to look at whilst driving into a hedge !!
I bought a separate boost gauge as the SECS one is hopeless to look at. I also take more notice of the Knocklink..
errrr .. Great bit of kit, looks nice, buy the oil sensors for the temp / pressure , error codes helpful etc etc etc but I'd spend the money on a good mapper with safety in mind wearing his det cans

Don’t really like the look of the pods on the dash or pillar.
Isn’t there a Knocklink add-on coming out soon for the SECS?
Dark Blue Mark
I think most of the futures will work on a MY04
