Engine Light on due to over revs?

Engine Light on due to over revs?
Has anyone experienced this, its the second time on my MY02! When driving hard I usually change gear at 6000 revs, but yesterday a bmw driver was really annoying me, and I dazzled him with the scoobs accelartion, and I probably got over excited and touched the reds in 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
After chatting to the garage Ive discovered that its quite a common problem, or a glitch! The light usually goes off in a couple of days, after normal driving! I cant remember the error code! Has it happened to anyone else, and why does it exactly happen?

Hi, I get the same problem sometimes MY01 PPP when driving hard in the red, only really started when I changed the air filter ITG and using Optimax, resets itself after 3 engine restarts (light goes out) unless problem still occurs, just one of those things.
