For that sort of price Id just leave it off, I put mine back on when I changed the down pipe but i know alot of people who have just left them off.
TSL even sell a down pipe with the top part polished ...a heat shield would cover this up.

leave it off, errr not if i can help it
with that much heat coming off the turbo directly below the intercooler it could lead to detonation, and on an sti5 its something i'd like to avoid.
Also, i quote bob rawle:

It should have a heat sheild and I would say MUST have a heat shield as that corner of the intercooler will toast without it which means higher charge temps which means det (possibly) which means ...
Its just pure laziness to not refit it, ok so they have to trim it a bit but that takes maybe 5 mins of anyones time.

They are taking the pi$$. The problem is Subaru probably charge a fortune for one, so the breakers just charge a percentage of the OEM costs. What option do you have; spend hundreds of pounds with a Dealer or £95 with them?
A lot of breakers no doubt know that Impreza drivers will be looking for them since most advice is to keep it on the car
I'm very synical when it comes to Scooby pricing - can you tell?
Have you thought about getting one made up or using wrap on your downpipe? You only need something to avoid overheating the brake resevoir and the IC.
