Attemped theft
3am this morning heard a clanging noise. looked out of the bedroom window to see 3 little toe rags trying to pop the bonnet on my wrx. Banged on the window and they legged it. Phoned the plod and they were here within 5 mins. They know who they are but cant do anything unless they catch them in the act. The car has got a good security system on, Thinking of buying a disklok for extra security are these any good?

I bought a disclok for that very reason - I'm sure if a determined thief wants my car, they'll find the means to get it, regardless of immobilisers, alarms, locks etc.... but, the disclok is very visible, and deters to$$ers who want to nick it quickly for a joyride.
They are bulky though, and can be a pain to store in the car. I think there is a bag of sorts you can get, but have never seen one in Halfords, or the like.

Buy from disklocks own page and you get a bag with it. I useually just store the lock behind the passenger seat in the foot well. But the bag has velcro parts on which secures nicely in the boot, so you can slide the lock in there and it doesnt slide about. Great product, get it in yellow for the most visable deterrent

if there were four nice big friendly chaps in ski mask's who politely asked if they could take my scoob for a spin then they are welcome to it! That's why I have a tracker! however, if it was an opportunist little sh!te, then he'd get a damn good hiding

Happended to me within the first 2 weeks of ownership. Woke up for a pi$$ in the middle of the night and spotted some ****** pearing inside the car window.
Since our driveway goes all the way around the back of the house, there were no excuses for him being there. Grabbed my baseball bat and chased the ****** down the street in my boxers. I live next to fields and some small forests, so by the time I'd unlocked our back door he'd made it to the tree line before I could catch up. If I'd have caught him, he'd have got a good kicking.
Haven't had any bother in the 4 years since.

a neighbour of the inlaws had a 4x4 sapphire cosworth, supposed to have a cat 1 system, but nobody noticed a low loader come along, cut the brake lies and made off with the car, sounds liike an insurance job to me, but you never know.
my sccob has cat 1 alarm/immobiliser, trackstar tracking device and steering wheel lock, and i still get paranoid if I hear any little noise outside :-(

It depends where you want to draw the line at security.
My old car had:
Subaru standard immobiliser
Subaru/Sigma CAT1 alarm
Tracker Monitor
Barrier Deadlock
Disklok
Parked in a garage
Garage door had no handle
Electronic garage door opener with rolling codes
Garage on it's own alarm circuit (either armed with the house or just on it's own at night)
I was going to fit one of those retracting pillars that are set in concrete inside the garage, so if they opened the door, they would still have to get passed the pillar!
I didn't fit the pillar as I thought I was getting paranoid at that stage!!
