Default Caliper replacement under warranty

Has anyone managed to get a new set of new front brake calipers on a MY03 WRX replaced under warranty due to severe corrosion.

Every MY03 I've seen (inc mine at 6months old) has very heavily corroded front brake calipers which look cr&p. God knows what state they'll be in, in 3 years time.

Cheers,

Chris

Mine are the same Chris, "they all do that sir!"

I'll havea word with FRP next week and see what they say, have you asked your dealer yet?

It's just the finish that looks bad, they actual caliper should perform well for years. Mine are still in good nick after almost 5 years use.

I would just give them a good lick of paint - Hammerite Smooth works well or get them professionally refurbished - at IM's cost

I cant believe you think you will get new calipers under warranty because they look crap. They ALL go that funny greenish colour within weeks of being new, they will still work perfectly well, your dealer will laugh you out of the showroom if you ask for replacements.

While your there ask for a new exhaust as yours has gone a diffrent colour from when it was delivered,LOL.

Cool

If you chose mica green metallic you would be well happy with color coded calipers!!

A mate of mine (FastFrank on SN) had his repainted under warranty, and they look pretty good too. Or you could do them yourself for about £10 and 30 minutes work !

Funny one this, we never bothered with our single pot jobs corroding, but now they are also an accessory, a bit of trim to show off. You could argue the car is sold on performance and looks, and the calipers are part of the overall look of the car and its unacceptable for them to corrode, but don't hold you breath.

Pockman,

As Tony said, I had my calipers repainted by my local dealer and they look great.

Initially they said it was a common fault and wouldn't do anything but I wouldn't have it so much so I called Subaru Technical UK to complain. I was fortunate to be put through to some senior manager because no other staff were available. I sent some pictures of the corrosion to him and he got on the phone that day and authorised the necessary rectification work to sort me ok (repaint).

Jobs a gooden.

Wink

Cheers fast frank, I'll look into it.

Zippy, you wrote, >>While your there ask for a new exhaust as yours has gone a diffrent colour from when it was delivered,LOL.<<

No way mate, I spend hours polishing my Prodrive pipe, so it can remain the throbbing silver tube of joyous noise, as it was the day it was fitted.
