Default Trackers

Just purchased a 99 uk impreza turbo, some ejit at tesco insurance gave me some slightly incorrect info regarding the need for a tracker to be fitted.
Wondering if anyone knows whether the basic tracker retrive will meet the insurance companys requirements,
Thanks

Default Tracker

I am with Tesco and they insisited on the Monitor and I had to send proof to them. Prepare for them to lose your documents as they lost mine and 2 other people I know, their customer service department is pretty poor in my opinion, but they were cheap

I had a mare getting this info out of Tesco two and a half years ago when I got my scoob. One phone call said cat1 alarm, then next time they changed their mind and said tracker(but no requirement for cat 1?)

Eventually I got them to give me the number of a third party company who do there security assesments - Called simba iirc, who gave me the definitive.

Apparently if you already own the car i.e. insurance company change then a cat 1 is adequate but if you are insuring on new purchase then they insist on a tracker. I'm fairly sure any of the tracker products was fine.

Think its fair to say the average person who works these call centres should not be allowed to vote.

Good luck
Ritchie.

I'd heard about that with tesco, so when i joined them last year, i sent them a copy of my tracker doc and they were quite happy with it.

Question

I am with tesco and was told online to fit a tracker and I then rang to ask which one and was told tracker monitor, when my insurance came through no mention of tracker on the form, so I rang back and was told that I didn't need one on a my03. I would have fitted one regardless but probably only a retreive has I fit them at work. Still at about £535 for fully comp for me and the missus i'm not complaining.
