Advice please - towing with STI
I've had conflicting view as to whether or not I can tow a 1.2 tonne boat with and STI8 - turbo overheating etc.
My thoughts are that I wont be above 3k rpm most of the time anyway.
Does anyone have any experience or further conflicting advice?
Thanks in advance.

Will not present a problem. Generally keep the load on the engine light ie.not to much throttle beyond say 60% and change down to let revs rise on lighter throttle in preference to lugging on low revs. You will find the car is happiest to pull up hills between 4 and 4.5k and the cruise is in the highest gear it is happy to pull on medium throttle.
If the trailer is properly balanced then towing at an indicated 85mph is quite possible but not recommended and you can top the ton if you are brave/foolish enough, providing the trailer set up is good.

Your maximum nose weight is 75Kg
maximum braked trailer weight is 1200Kg
and mamimum unbraked is 500Kg
So your gross train weight is 3080Kg using a braked trailer.
So yes, just if your trailer is braked and does not exceed 1200Kg with your nose weight being no more than 75Kg.

Use a weighbridge and a pair of scales to check out your weights.

BTW go over 60 with a trailer and you may get nicked.
