Default At what revs should the turbo really start to pick up?

I have read numerous threads on here where people mention that having PPP fitted etc results in the turbo coming in about 1000 rpm earlier. Having read the thread on here about the PPP problems somebody is having, most people seem to be mentioning the turbo coming in at 2800 rpm.

Just wondering at what level it should be coming in at on a standard MY00 UK turbo.

Don't have a boost gauge, but mine seems to wake up at around 3k ish in the lower gears, and maybe 2,800 ish in 4th and 5th. That's on a MY02, so same engine as yours.

Hmmm, mine is spinning up at 2800 ish in lower gears, very obvious whistle from the turbo. Just wondering if mine is really standard or if it may have been "messed" with somewhere along the line. Not much point asking the dealer, they didn't know it had a CD changer in it or realise it had the PPP handling pack fitted.

The rear box is OEM style, i.e. twin pea-shooter, is there any easy way to tell if it may have been PPP'd and later put back on standard rear box?

The most obvious thing to look for after the exhaust is the hose just under the left side of the intercooler. If there's a very obvious blue L-shaped hose with Prodrive written on it, then the car has (probably) at some time been fitted with the PPP. If not then it's highly unlikely.

You could also check for the Prodrive ECU (which I believe is actually labelled STI) in the passenger footwell.

Note, though, that the Prodrive exhaust is an integral part of the PPP, so you won't be getting the full benefit without it.

I bought my MY98 UK turbo from a scooby dealer with fssh 18 months ago.
It was bog standard, or so i thought.
It was only this janruary that i found out it had been superchipped when i took my car to have a phase two ecu upgrade at power engineering

As far as the boost goes, around 2800 - 3000rpm would be about right.
I just had a boost gauge fitted on monday.
I havent really had the chance to give it a real test yet, but the boost seems to only come into play under acceleration, and at variable psi depending upon rpm and gear selected. If you back off the go pedal at over 3000rpm, you are not necessarily producing any boost.
I know this may sound obvious, but i never really noticed this untill i had the boost gauge fitted.

Hope this helps.

Mine wakes up at 2.5k, which means 65MPH in 5th (WRX 03) same before and after PPP.

Yup around 2.5k-2.8k you should start picking up power, new car is good from 1.5k upwards, 2.4k is lots of torque and its not a diesel (and is factory standard )

Not much point asking the dealer, they didn't know it had a CD changer in it or realise it had the PPP handling pack fitted.
If you bought it from a dealer sounds like a result, they would have charged extra for those
