Default WR 1 Service Intervals

Over the last few weeks i have trawled the net for information on the WR1, but as many of you ae aware Subaru / Prodrive haven't actually released a confirmed spec yet, if i'm, wrong I stand to be corrected.

I have an understanding that it will require 5000 mile services, can anybody confirm that this is the case (or not) and if it is the case will it just be to drop the oil or will it have any thing to do with the DCCD (as per the EVO's AYC), excuse my ignorance, but I am just trying to get the facts straight.

When I ordered mine was told by the dealer that it would be standard servicing as per usual STI plus an additional minor service (oil change basically) every 5000 miles. I think the 5000 mile change is due to the DCCD but I could be wrong.

Just reading that the type 25 has normal 10000 mile service intervals with the addition of a 5000 mile oil change. The only other change is that the DCCD and rear diff oils are also changed during the normal 10000 mile services.

So similar to what has been written about WR1.

Well speaking to Days of Chelmsford this morning, they said they didn't know anything about a 5000 mile service interval for the WR-1 and as far as they were concerned, it would be the same as for all other Impreza's (i.e. the standard 10000 miles). Just to confuse things a little

I can't believe it's a 5000 mile service interval, an oil change I can understand but a whole service like the classics.
Just more money for IM IMHO

Most of the people I know with scoobs have them serviced regularly so this probably wont be too much of an issue for owners. I usually have the oil changed on my WRX every 5-6000 miles.

I have had a three-way conversation between a dealer, Prodrive and myself.
The Prodrive representative (Mike Wood) said that the WR1 would indeed have to have a 5000 Mile, intermediate service (Oil Change) - Mainly due to the performance upgrades applied!!

I paid the deposit anyway!!

Ed Wood was a rather odd film director with a liking for angora sweaters. Didn't you mean Mike Wood?

As like many MY02/03 Sti owners with PPP I have always done an Intermediate 5K Oil change. As thought 10k/12months with 300+bhp was a bit excessive

But will the £80 Oil change turn into a £150 5K service ?

12 months 10K seems a little too long I would have an interim one done after 6 months anyway

I'm reliably informed that it will just be an interim oil and filter change every 5k, which many people seem to do anyway. Cost circa £75
