Depends on your age and your budget mate, JDMs are usually more difficult and more expensive to insure. Do you want to have it serviced at a dealer, parts more difficult to get, JDMs usually have a higher spec than their UK equivalents, more power, but need a remap or fuel booster to run on lower octane uk fuel. Plenty of threads on here about the pro's and cons of the two. You pay's your money and takes your choice mate!

We can't tell you whether to get a UK or Japanese car Bob. Ultimately it's your job to weigh up the pro's and con's of each approach. It's even harder to advise you when you haven't told us whether you're thinking of a new or used car, whether you have an acceptable insurance profile, and so-on.
As far as the differences between the cars is concerned, most of the specs on the classic shape cars can be found at http:www.sidc.co.uk/faq
