Joint Scoobynet+ Membership
Joint Scoobynet+ Membership
Simon - Shaun what about having a joint membership for the couples that are on here as a lot of other subscription sites have joint membership for couples at a discount.
There are numerous couples on here so I think they would agree and it would be better to get some membership than none !!

Hi All
We've had a brief chat about this, but haven't come to a conclusion.
Personally, if it is possible and fairly straight forward we would like to do this, but..
The problem is trying to make it work. How do we know that two people are a couple? If we only know in some cases, it's not fair on those that we don't know. We could end up with all sorts of people pretending to be a couple, etc.
Genuinely open to suggestions. But they must solve the problem in the following way..
1) We need a way of being sure that two people are truly eligible for the discount
2) It needs to be easy and straight forward to operate as spare time is non-existent
3) It needs to be fair to all, and not open to abuse.
Any ideas?
All the best

Perhaps the couple could send in a copy of a moblie bill each, proving they live together?
Though that would take up time, it would exclude couples not living togther ! Perhaps that would be the price to pay?
A couple of mods could vouch for me and Chelsie for instance, but as Simon rightly says this would be unfair to those not known.

Thanks simon for the reply
as you say it has to be fair,my sugestion is the same that has been said allready we need to send or fax a utility bill through to prove tha you are a couple etc, ,thoughts are that if its for couples it should be for the ones living together not in seperate houses etc as this could be open to all sorts of abuse
Thanks Simon for you time so far

Thanks for the suggestions
That solves 1) and 3), but not 2).
It would be difficult to administer and would take up time. You'd be surprised how much time too.
Lots of people would not send the right information (like sending their bills, but not send their usernames).. then we would have people complaining that they hadn't been set up, and the only way we could have contacted them would have been to send a letter back, etc, etc.
Even if all the information was sent correctly, it would mean additional admin, and we're right on the limit of survival as far as time goes at present!!
Any other ideas? I'd really like to do this.

How about Plus Membership automatically allowing you 2 logins. for you to use at your leisure. Its simple
Downside those of us who only have one username may feel they want to add the additional name [ for what ever purpose ]
Or perhaps I am looking at it too simply

Si, to be honest i'm not sure you can be really sure two people are eligable. If banks etc can't be, then it'll be a lot harder for us to do so.
I feel that asking people to send gas bills etc etc is taking things a little far and will add an additional overhead to the admin.
The easiest way forward I feel is to add say 12.50 to the cost of a standard plus membership, send the packs to the same address and take the rest on trust. Some people may take the mick but then every organisation that does family membership takes the same risk as this would.

I know what you're saying, but the nature of the internet is different, and the fact that people can sign up online and may not even care about the membership packs means that sending them to the same address would be of no use.
I'm not suggesting that we use the solution of sending gas bills, as I stated previously it doesn't solve the problem.
If it is open to abuse, we shouldn't do it.. for a whole host of reasons.
