Group buy for uprated Top mount intercooler for MY97 / MY98
#1
Just been having a chat with a company regarding uprated intercoolers.
They manufacture an intercooler which is a direct replacement for our model year 97/98 which has 40% more volume giving 12 - 15 degree temp drop (over & above standard IC) with no pressure drop when compared to the original.
If we can get 5 definates then the price will be £336 + £12 delivery + VAT which is £408.90 all in . Normal retail is £384.00 + delivery + VAT (£465.30).
Please register an interest here.
Cheers

OK guys
Its made by RADTEC, Andrew i can get you the guys number if you wish, as i'm sure you will be able to grill him more that i can about spec etc.
Its not a bar and plate design (as per the MRT one) which is unfortunate. I have however also spoken with Rich Wild, who has indicated that a group buy deal might be possible with the MRT TMIC on 10 orders
Cheers, will be back online tomorrow morning

I thought that the TD04 was struggling with an FMIC ?
Most (i.e. non-replaced) 97/98 UKs will be TD04 (I thought) so won't they need the TMIC ?
Ta,

Yup Mark is right guys, if your car has the standard turbo then uprated TMIC is IMHO the way to go.
If you have changed the turbo and have a mappable ECU then FMIC is another option.
The MRT performs very well on Rich Wilds UK97 (with TD05FE etc etc), and i think that this is going to be my choice. However, there is nothing stopping two group buys from going on in this GB.

Hmm - does Rich have a mappable ECU ?
I'd like to go for this, but TD05 (cost 100ish) + mappable ECU (800+ !) is a lot, with FMIC to follow....
I'm sure that I'm reaching the limit with my TD04, and maybe an improved IC will allow a bit more boost, to limit it out, but I'm not sure that a TD05 can be fitted without the ECU, which I guess is a 'buy a new one' job on the 97/98...
Opinion on 'where next' after de-cat/induction/boost control seems a bit varied...
I assume that the improved TMIC can be fitted without need to swap ECU or turbo - Also, does it come with everything needed ? (I've already got Samco hoses)

Hi Mark,
Yes my ECU is standard.
You don't need to change anything else when fitting the uprated top mount and if you've got samcos already, it's just a simple straight swap for your old intercooler.
You just have to lose all that gubbins under your OEM scoop.
Thes intercoolers also work better with the larger intake scoop too.
I can mail you some pics of mine if you want, unless Iain can post them up here.
Normal retail for them is £743+ VAT but I could help you a bit on that , especially if you and Iain club together for one each.
Cheers

Rich, I'd be interested in the piccys, but not sure I can stretch to 750 quid at the mo....
I'd guess that the intercooler is a vital step prior to the TD05, so I'll put it on the save up list
