Question

Not me, obviously (only 17600) but for those of you who do big miles, what probs have you encountered (if any) and what bills can I expect?..ie when does the clutch tend to go etc.

We repaired one almost exactly a year ago with a busted engine that had 40,odd thousand miles then. Belonged to a mate of Knowlsey at Xtreme Scoobies if I remember. The guy then traded it back to Warrender l think.

32000 on mine without a hiccup. 2 sets of brakes and new tyres are all its needed besides the regular 6000 mile oil changes I give it.

29500 miles.

30k service this coming Friday.

Problems to be sorted under warranty are:

Squeaky seat belts
Heavy steering, power steering sounds noisy
Knocking noise from rear suspension (fixed once already)
Clutch Judder in first and reverse (been told I'll get a new clutch and flywheel)
Soft Brakes
Windscreen washers miss the windscreen, just fly over !
Gearbox can sometimes whine when coming down from very high revs.

Thats it. A small list of issues that are due to be sorted for me. Maybe not next Friday as I'm sure they won't have time to do the lot, but rest assusured these problems will be sorted for me.

Rasher, This car was apparently the first one imported by Warrender when they were first announced and EVERY motoring hack had a go and gave it 'death' for however long it took. This guy bought it at about 4000 miles and drove firmly would be a good word.

Big End failure No. 3 as always.

Supposedly 330 horsepower but on standard injectors I doubt it. Seemed sluggish and ponderous after we finished and l road tested it, but I believe thats a familiar criticism when comparing a well set up Classic against aa standard - ish STi7. Of course on a fresh engine I couldn't extend it at all so probably not a fair judgment.
