Not to be an *** but will somebody please tell me if the wagon wrx import is less powerfull than the saloon equiv. http://www.sidc.co.uk says they are the same but others have said the wagon is 40bhp down with a smaller turbo. My wagon beats my mates saloon! not by much though. So what is the truth? if so anyone want to swap a 96 wrx wagon for a saloon????!!!!!

Wink

I should state that my92/93/94 cars (4 doors) only had 240ps, there has been a gradual increase in power over the years resulting eventually in both the 4 and 5 door versions having the same bhp output and turbo's.

Its the chassis number, the PS rating, the model. (1 ps rates at .98ish bhp).

Most GF-8's had 220PS when using 100RON fuel; the late ones had 240PS.

Yup your mates car could be down on power, they rate at 240ps, there aint much in it and you will have the advantage of earlier spin up of the turbo due to its size, you will loose out towards the top end though as the TD04 runs out of puff. It probably wont help if your mate puts unleaded in his car (dunno if he does or not?) as they are designed to run 100ron fuel to see the correct PS levels.
You could just be a better driver than your mate who hasnt really got the hang of how to drive an impreza to its full potential (like not redlining it as the power falls off pretty sharpish in the last 500rpm).
Lots of factors though, i take it yours is standard?

yeh its just got a ss exhaust. my mate has got filter and exhaust too. I was always told these motors were 280 bhp but having seen the evidence my mates 93 wrx saloon is 240 and mine is 220. I would have got the saloon if i knew this - oh well Wonder why people always say they are 280?
