hi everyone,
ive just recieved a letter from subaru warranty services telling me that my warranty runs out at the end of the month, and that i can renew for another 12 months for £405,all i want to know, is there anybody on here that has continued there warranty for this long,my car will be 5 years old when the current protection runs out,so will it be worth it for me to continue this as it is only a proven warranty which doesn't cover as much as the previous warranties(as i found out twice in the last 6 months).
the main thing is the fact that the car will be 5 years old,so wot are the chances of something going wrong on it that will be covered by the warranty?
any help or advice much appriciated(and needed)
thanks all

Personally i wouldn't bother, but if your engine goes pop you obviously would regret it! Like i say though, if it was me i wouldn't. Not that i could claim on warranty anyway due to mods

Well i was in a similar position recently and decided not to continue my warranty. I have a MY98 with about 54k on the clock. Personally i think it is a lot of money for what IMO is a poor warranty. Also i don't do many miles (about 6k) during a year and don't drive the car too hard so hopefully won't have many problems. For 405 pounds you could have quite a bit of repair work done should a problem arise, which is the way i look at it. Sods' Law really, extend the warranty and you won't have any problems!

Like any insurance policy it's based on the company offerring it making an overall profit so across the board no it's not worth it... but if you're unlucky then you may regret it???
I would personally take my chances on the basis that the warranty is not as comprehensive as before and they will try and get out of anything classed as wear and tear I guess.
Your call though m8

In a word...YES.
Was in same position in November, with a 5yr old car. I figured that for the cost of the Subaru Proven Warranty, which also includes Recovery/Homestart etc (gota be £100+ worth), I protect myself against massive bills for a year, and if I sell, I have an advantage over the majority of other 5yr old Subarus and can sell car including 'piece of mind'

I didn't..nearly spat out me cup of tea when I read the letter Glad I didn't as I would have wasted the £800 it would cost if I had renewed it for the last 2 years after it originally expired!
It's only is peice of mind if something big goes pop.
Bear in mind that it normally only covers 1 clutch, nothing on wear and tear. And IIRC the Turbo up to 80K.
So read the small print VERY carefully to make sure the big expensive stuff will still be covered (turbo, engine, gearbox, diff etc).
