Taken from News on www.evo.co.uk tonight:

9:54 They've gone new car crazy at Saab. Two weeks ago, we had the first official look at the firm's 9-7x SUV - and now it's the turn of its new 9-2x Based on the Subaru Impreza, this is the production model which goes on sale in the US and Canada next summer - the letter 'x' denotes that it's four-wheel drive. ...more

Looks like Subaru have prostituted themselves by selling the design to Saab - supose it's got to be better than the Vectra floor pan the 93 is currently based on!

Aren't Saab and Subaru all part of the big happy GM family?

Ah! That's why my WRX has depreciated as fast as a Vectra!

That may explain it BuRR.

I didn't realise Fuji Heavy Industries was part of GM!

The Saab looks Ok though - did I really say that?

I don't think they could make the back end of a saloon look any good as a Saab but it looks Ok as the Aero

FHI are not part of GM. GM simply have a minority share holding in FHI - something like 15%.

Don't think FHI are part of GM, think the way it works is that GM is a minority shareholder in Subaru, with FHI being the majority owner.

As for "prostituting" themselves, it's hardly that. Platform sharing is an unavoidable reality in the modern motor industry, and it's money in FHI's pocket that helps the development of future Subarus. In any case, it's a two-way street, as a lot of the GM group knowhow has gone into Subarus over the last couple of years, not least in terms of interior design and NVH elimination.
