Never had any problems here, i dont use it too much anyway but when i have its been fine.
I suppose it may not have the signal strength of a proper aerial but i guess im in a fairly good area for reception, may be a cause though.

I noticed poor reception with the standard headunit.
fitted a blaupunkt twin digi tuner headunit and reception was excellent, then I had the windows tinted and it does dissapear ocasionaly now.
have you had your windows tinted and running a standard headunit ??.

Yes my radio is poor I notice it more on news programs like R4 theres a lot of background noise and it occasionally cuts out - think this may be the rds cutting in. Planning to change the head unit anyway at some point.

Mine has bad reception as well. I have had new rear screen fitted to try and fix it, but has made no difference. Have people found that changing the headunit improves reception ?

found it to be utter cr4p! NO problems with the old one with metal A pillar aerial.
I'm guessing the aerial would be the problem......in previous experience fitting a good quality aerial (eg £60) made a big difference - and that car had an extendable aerial ...btw I'm not in aerial sales

The blaupunkt head unit was the LA MP72, it has two tuners to lock onto different frequncies for the same station and switches betwwen them so you never get drop outs,
worked great but did diminish once i had the windows tinted.

Can't work out why having windows tinted should make any difference. The tints are on the inside aren't they? The aerial element is bonded onto the inide of the rear window but the tints would go inside that so the aerial still only has the glass to look through. And the tints is very thin plastic anyway so can't see that affecting radio reception even then, especially compared with 5mm of glass which it is designed to see through. Odd.
That said fm radio reception on my STi7 was hopeless which was why I changed to DAB with a roof mounted beesting aerial.
Someone once said reception is OK when you drive north or south but crap driving east west, all to do with the way the aerial elements run across the top of the screen rather than a normal aerial which is vertical? Sounded like b*ll*cks to me but good thought. Try it!
