i need to buy 4 kits for my cars and van so i thought i would see if i could do a deal for people on scoobynet at the same time
So iam gaugin interest in a group buy on complete hands free car kits
What i need is the make and model of your phone (inc model number if applicable) to see what sort of discount i can get

I might be interested. I have a Sony Ericsson T68i, which is Bluetooth capable. Shouldn't a decent Bluetooth kit work with lots of different phones without having to make everybody buy a different model?

gossy i have some good contacts in the phone business we have recently bought about 10 of the nokia kits between my family and i know the guy who owns/supplies the kits, so when you get a price and the amount you want if you drop me a line with requirements and your current best prices, ill try and get em a bit cheaper for you, if i can

just fitted a hands free kit to debbie's focus, took less then 5 mins to fit, simple clip fitting to air vent for carrier which will hold most phones, a speaker is slotted into the cig lighter socket and a wire is clipped over the phone's earpiece.
the part also has a cig lighter socket for u to connect another item (like the radar detector)into
ok so its not a good as these fitted kits but for £10 it does the job and u can move it from car to car in less then 5 mins!!!

I have seen those kits which clip a speaker over the earpiece.
How do you make or receive a call without touching the phone, as that is the offence?
They may be a good idea, providing they satisfy the requirements of the new law. £10 sounds a bit cheap for something like that.

Mmmm - and they break quickly too. Mine laster about 3 days before it started causing feedback, even when I wasn't on a call. The g/f's laster 3 weeks. She has given up and gone back to an ear piece for now.
Work have fitted me with a proper Nokia car kit for mine and it is worlds apart. Neat fitting, holder doesn't fall off, no wires all over the place, great reception due to the external ariel and it kills the stero and plays through the stereo speakers. OK they are pricey but they are just sooooo much better (IMHO).
Hence wanting one to replace the g/f's knackered bit of c**p.

As i understand it, you can touch the phone if it is a cradle to answer a call. You can even have it on the seat next to you with a headset, just can't hold the thing to your ear.
And as stated - we have had 2 of the cheapo things and neither lasted a month. OK at £10 a shot, you can get a new one every month and over 12 months it will probably still be cheaper than the pucker thing, but I get sick of the wires and the phone falling out of the cradle, or the cradle falling off the vent.
Also found with a 3310, the back of the cradle comes up to far so the clip that goes over the ear piece fouls on the cradle and causes it to fall off on a regular basis
Pay your money take your choice I guess - stay in one Friday night instead of going to the pub and you can buy 3 or 4 of the things and see how you get on

OllyK, thanks 4 that, here is a cheaper solution then :-
I think we can then just use the normal in-ear hands free kits and blu-tak phone to the dash and push the buttons without holding it then this will be ok.
I may be interested in a Bluetooth kit compatable with Nokia 7650

As I understand it - that's OK, and that is how the g/f is doing it at the moment.
She just tends to get tangled up in the wire (long hair) or rip it out of her ear when she looks over her shoulder. If you can live with that then that's fine!

OllyK- As I understand it you need automatic answer and voice activated dialing if you are on the move, otherwise you are now breaking the law.
To touch the phone at all whilst moving you are plod bait, even to one touch dial/answer.
You'd have to be unlucky to get caught at that precise second though.

I think you are allowed one-touch answering and dialling, as long as the phone is secured in a cradle. What's the difference betweent that and changing station on the radio?

Think this just goes to show how grey the laws are in this country. Different people read the same things in different ways especcialy when it is wrapped up in legal jargon.
My understanding is that "holding" the phone is the big issue. In fact Top Gear on Sunday made the point that you can still send text messages as long as your phone is in a cradle - this won't stop you getting done under the old law for dangerous driving however!
