Hi
I am about to buy my first Scooby Turbo. I have been addicted since the day I was driven in me m8's P1. It was mind blowing. Unfortunately, I cannot outlay the amount of money for a used one....yet...but I am buying the 1 below. What d'ya reckon?
Any hints/tips what I should look for?
It has the following spec: (copied from seller)
This car is the very rare Subaru Impreza Turbo Prodrive WR Sport of which only 50 genuine Prodrive cars were built. It is a full genuine UK car bought from Subaru that comes as standard with all the prodrive extras (please do not confuse this with a standard Impreza Turbo) including; Uprated engine to 255ps, 17" alloys, Lowered and uprated suspension, Uprated brakes, Short-shift gearbox, Stainless exhaust, All colour coded bodykit and spoilers, Electric Recaro seats, PIAA lights, Special dials and graphics, these were all factory fitted as new in this special edition Subaru.
Other features include Air conditioning, Electric windows front and rear, Electric mirrors, remote central locking with alarm/immobiliser, PAS, ABS,
The car has covered 53k miles and is backed up by full service history by Subaru UK.
By the way...Excuse my ignorance but how do I post pics of the car...???

aceman - car looks the dogs do dars, I think it looks tops in red also, there are that may bluie ones maybe it's good to be different??
it's a shame they haven't made a newer car with the same good looks at the later Classic like this one. Almost makes me think I should have spent 11k less and bought something like this rather than new WRX PPP.
Go get it m8 as long as it's straight, a rare car that won't hang about for long me thinks!

Aceman,
Just to let you know that Prodrive didnt release any UK car other than the Terzo3 on an S reg.
That car your looking at just has all the factory accessories on.
The WR sport pack is available as a dealer option and is called the Prodrive performance pack, and on the MY97/98 car it didnt push out 255ps, more like 240ps, the MY99/00 PPP was up to nearer 255ps (take note that this is on super unleaded fuel).
This car also looks like it has the full leather interior (also a Prodrive option on all scoobs, plus the driving pack which if it has, is revised suspension and geometry settings, plus Prodrive alloy wheels).
I hope this helps, it shouldnt be marketed as anything other than an Impreza Turbo with extra's though, it may pull a little more than normal but only around 1k more.
Tony

Id try to go half way, this car is fully spec'd up, you should start at 8k and see where it ends up (8,750 is probably what you will end up parting with though).

Aceman,
The official figures for the MY99/00 PPP were 237bhp (240ps) but this was with unleaded fuel, mine pushed 249bhp with superunleaded fuel.
There is also a slight difference in power between the MY97/8 and MY99/00 car of 7bhp, a different chip and the way it was programmed.
The 97/98 ecu for the PPP wasnt exactly a big hit, so 240ps is top end really for it (plus you also have engine differences between the Phase 1 engine on the 98 model and the Phase 2 engine on the 99 model.
One thing to listen out for though is piston slap on start up, the 97/98 cars (both uk and Jdm) were renown for it, normally under 30k though but ensure it doesnt sound like a diesel on startup from cold (and ensure the car is cold too!)

aceman.. i'll take £6k
leaves you £2k spare for insurance + more mods lol
mines doing approx 240bhp with the full de cat now. from the std 208bhp from the MY97 car... not forgetting that it was the MY97 that TopGear got the 5.2secs 0-60!
