Red face

Received an email from Pete Croney today. Sorry Pete, but I do have to post it.

"Following a meeting with Jonathan Palmer, the SIDC have been given permission to return to Bedford for track days. In granting this permission Jonathan Palmer gave the club a list of people that would not be welcome back to his circuit, due to comments they made on Scoobynet.

The majority of these people are not club members, do not own Imprezas and some do not even live in this country. But, unfortunately, your name is on the list"

Unfvcking believable.

I find this quite amazing - we went and spoke to Mr Palmer at the Autosport show this year to clarify things. He said to Ian and myself, that we were more than welcome to take our Westie back to Bedford and they would help us sort the noise issue out. It wasn't an issue with us it was an issue with, and I quote "those cvnts that were trying to fool the noise meters" He even went to mention that Subaru drivers were not particularly welcome and he didn't need them there.

All I can say, Mr Palmer, is up yours. Your loss, not mine.

after being at that shambles of a trackday i wouldn't consider it a loss.

the farce started when they charged me twice because they couldn't "find" my original visa payment.

the farce continued with half the day being wasted as the staff thrashed everyones cars past the mics.

am i now banned from the **** hole? maybe the locals will get their way and the place will be shut down.

maybe they should branch out and start arranging drinking sessions in a local breweries

can I consider JJones barred from bedford JP track days

Well, if Mr Palmer is at Autosport this year, I'll make a point to go and have a chat with him. Not sure which face I'll talk to though

Unhappy

Well, I had the same mail. Looks like I'm banned as well. Shame as its a nice circuit.

Oh well, I'll just have to book my 10 track days elsewhere.

Thumbs up

Just to clarify - I am banned for saying the following, this is unreal!!!!!

But if JP did not change his stance at all, surely we would have all suffered, by not even getting on track at all. He is paid to make decisions like this, and one which I think he called right.

JP made the choice to;

Either cancel the whole day, or;
Reduce the noise level and let the remaining people continue to run, which I am glad he did

.....and
I am not going to cut my nose off, it's a terrific venue!

I really dont think JP will loose to much sleep if you deceide not to go

.....and
I am not sticking up for JP, but they did'nt stop for an hours lunch, which they would have done if everything had gone according to plan

OK this next comment was a bit poor - but not aimed at anyone
I feel sorry for you guys, that sucked donkeys ****!

Dave

I can't see how the hell this ban can be enforced. Palmersport have bb user names only..... so how the hell would they know who is who, if you booked in your real name

I have had 'the mail too', which is pretty strange really, because I am not an SIDC member, I don't own a Scoob and would have no reason to book a trackday through them

Ah, but you're a moderator on this nest of vipers. You should have edited all the negative posts

Oh, and I still want a ride in your car. Have you forgiven me yet?

Guys

Please keep this thread respectful or it will be locked.

JP has a right to ban or welcome whoever he likes, for whatever reason he likes. Set up your own circuit and tell him he is not welcome if you like.

I do accept that many people will be upset by this. Some of those people will have been banned for good reason and a little bit of thought will lead you to the reasons.

However... it *sounds* as though there may have been some people who were banned and possibly didn't deserve it.

If we can keep this thread respectful and balanced, there is a slight chance that some good could come of it. Otherwise there is absolutely no chance, and all that would come of it is bad (see the thread that started all this off for a graphic demonstration of this).

Regards

Webmaster

I find it very alarming that a total of 28 people have been banned just for passing an opinion!!

dingy

I don't think it's a joke at all.

I would probably take exactly the same line. The reasons as follows :

1) It wasn't me that banned you
2) I may not even know the reasons why you are banned
3) I don't have the spare time to go in to 30 different drawn out conversations about why everyone was banned
4) There is nothing I can do about it anyway

I know it hurts, but let's try to keep it respectful and balanced.

Regards

Did you read my post prior to your last one?

Do you have facts supporting that the reason you have stated in your last post is actually the reason?

I would find it alarming if that was the case as well, but I have absolutely no evidence to say that the very reason that they were banned was because of the sheer fact that they passed an opinion.

Please consider further comments more carefully, especially while you represent scoobynet with your moderator status!

The ban is purely for the SIDC day at Bedford from what I can see, not a global venue ban. As said previously there is no way they could enforce a ban on a bbs username if you registered for one of the many other track days run there, they'd not know who 'Dingy' or whoever was in the real world.

You've got to respect JP though

Run a trackday as a complete shambles, and ban any who dare criticise.

What a happy little Utopia he's creating down in Bedford lol.

It is exactly as Craig has said.

All the following are hard facts.

I did NOT go to Bedford

I am NOT a member of the SIDC

I do NOT own an Impreza

I DID pass an opinion

I DID criticise the dicisions of the day, and JPs subsequent attitude.

I AM banned.

I find it funny that I have been banned, but only because it's not going to affect me. For the rest, the situation is worse.

I'm sure everyone is very grateful for the way you are attempting to keep this thread open and balanced. Otherwise you would be risking the chance of this thread actually doing some good for some people.
