I should know this but I've lent my Impreza Book to Lordharding (Cumbrian Scoobs).
Sorry to be a sad git but it's something to do with the names of the constellations (stars) in the sky

Subaru is the Japanese name for the constellation we call the Seven sisters . Why there are only six stars on the Subaru badge I don't know, perhaps it was cloudy that night.

I thought Subaru was the japanese word for the constellation Pleiades, which is made up of six stars hence the badge....

I think I read somewhere the stars represent sister companies or something of FHI... not 100% on that though.

the stars in the badge represent the individual parts of Fuji Heavy Industrys......
its says so in tokyos Subaru head quarters.....( smug grin coz ive been there )
