Just ordered a FATT Blitz Turbo timer and was wondering what happens when you lock the car with your fob while the engines still running, does the immobiliser kill the engine or does the timer override the immobiliser stopping the car being immobilised...???

You won't (or shouldn't) be able to arm the alarm with the engine running.

(Try it now - try and arm the alarm with the keys in the ignition)

More or less, yes

Be careful also, as apparently having a TT invalidates the CAT1 status of the alarm.

With the key out the ignition and engine running, you should be able to press the Arm button and it will lock the door's only, then if you have the option switched on, on your alarm it will arm it self.

So you could if you dont already have Auto arming switched on, on your alarm, then you can leave your car. what alarm is it.

Sigma?

If it is, then it won't work. I have the same TT (I think) fitted to my car.

I set mine for a 30 second run-on, just in case I forget to warm the car down.

As Burr said, the Sigma M30 won't allow the doors to lock/system to arm whilst the engine is timing down.

You basically have 2 options.

1) Lock the door with the keys while timing down and remote arm the alarm once shut down. (from house window etc)

2) There is rumoured to be an "accessory" wire in the Sigma loom, that when chopped, the alarm's brain cannot detect that the engine is running, thus allowing it to lock the doors, arm the alarm, and the immobiliser will cut in 30 secs after engine shuts down in any case.

This wire is described on Ravensblades site if you want to have a look.

With regards to the CAT 1 invalidation, most insurance companies don't discount for CAT 1 now. Trackers don't even guarantee a discount these days.

If your insurance company discounted your policy, on the basis of CAT 1 security and you have sent them proof (certificate) then, yes, your insurance will be invalidated so just don't tell them you have a CAT 1 and you are fine.

In any case, even if someone does get into the car whilst timing down, the handbrake wire should be connected, meaning that the car will shut down as soon as the handbrake is released, thus immobilising anyway.

From Ravensblade

11) If you have the optional security upgrade from Subaru, you must now modify your car so that your security system will arm while running on the timer.
12) Above the fuse panel, there is a black Keyless entry module. Remove this - 1 10mm bolt.
13) Find the dark green w/ black trace wire and cut it. Tape both ends and bolt the keyless entry module back where it came from.
14) On the security system module (located on the drivers side of the parking brake) find the gray wire and cut that, taping both ends.
15) You are all set. Put everything back together and have fun.

I have to wait for my timer to get below 50 secs before I alarm the car otherwise the alarm goes off If I locked it using the key, then set the alarm after shut down, would that unlock the dorrs or just alarm the car???? At the moment theres not much point me having mine

On the Sigma M30, it'll simply arm it whilst keeping the doors locked.

Without the turbo timer on and engine off...

Lock your doors with keys and press your fob.

If the alarm arms and doors stay locked, you can do this after tt has timed down.

If the door open and alarm doesn't arm it won't work, but my suspicion is that it will arm system and stay locked.
