What to do if you get stopped for a roadside emissions test (and you're decatted)?

(Mods, leave here for a while as I know this thread could help many members of the community)
A lot of you are fully decatted, as am I. Now what would be the best way around being stopped for a roadside emissions test, such that you have time to replace the cats and avoid the fine/penalty - whatever that is?
I've heard things like saying the car isn't running well, its not warm enough, or that the emission testing equipment could damage the car.
Can we get the final word on this please?

Don't you just get a producer? Therefore you get stopped, you fail, you act suprised, you get issued with a producer, you get an emissions test (either re-cat or dodgy), you show up at the police station with the documents and job done.

I'm not sure if you can just get another emmissions test. My understanding was you got a producer, but needed an MOT cert after you were stopped.
Only think PC Plod could give you the answer by the letter of the law.

Roadside emmissions test is more likely to be done by DOT Vehicle Inspectorate.
Police are usually in attendance to bring the vehicles in to the test area as only the Police can stop moving vehicles.

i have been emision tested twice they dont check for cats etc they dont have the time
if your car fails you will generally be issued with a prohibition order and you have to fix the problem take the car to an mot garage have it tested on the failure points if it passes the garage stamps the form
they then extract readies from your wallet
you usually have x amount of time to do the repairs they will let you drive your car home although if you take the ****/have lots of things wrong they may not
just play the game and you will be fine

I may be wrong but remember someone saying that if you get stopped and fail a roadside emission test, then you need to go and retake your MOT test within 7 days and provide it to a police station along with the producer.
