This is old hat. The individual was, reportedly, taking the pi$$. No-one (on Five-0) knows whether the charges were actually laid and, if so, what the outcome was.

I have thought about a diffuser unit, but only incase I slip over the limit inadvertedly because that is where the camera will no doubt be.
Its a shame the Police are not named and shamed more for hiding their cameras, not displaying signs etc in an obvious attempt not to prevent speeding but to catch drivers and get their 60 sheets in the process.
In Aberdeenshire it is now common for the "Safety" Vans to be hidden with no signs warning of their presence etc. Cant be very safe if people almost have an accident instinctively jamming on the anchors at the last secong incase they are just over the limit...
Its a loose loose situation. I try to stick to limits, but now and again you do slip over the limit. Sometimes you need a blast - but when I blast it is on a back road I know will be clear of major hazards including the biggest hazard, the camera. The problem with cameras is that there is no give.
I think we should take a leaf out of the US book and issue tickets by real police and not automatic tax collector boxes.....

There's an interesting contradiction here too:
"While the legislation has been passed making it illegal to use radar diffusers, there is currently no legislation in place regarding the laser devices," said John Rowling from the Safety Camera Partnership.

AIUI, Jwallis, Radar diffusers are banned because they may have adverse effects on installations other than speed measuring devices, while the same can't be said of Laser jammers. Added to which, the Government hasn't got round to it.....check the Queen's Speech today.....
