I've just got a second car - a little 1.4 Metro GTi to travel to and from work and go shopping etc. £18 to fill up from empty and 40mpg+. Only work 5 miles from where I live so seems crazy to use the Scoob so that has now become my weekend toy.
Really brings home how much Scoobies cost to run, so even taking into account insurance I should hopefully save a substantial amount of money a month (all the more to pay for mods on the Scoob) and at the same time not having to worry about parking it in the office/supermarket car park etc.
Anybody else do something similar?

I also use my scoob as a weekend toy,i use the 406 HDi for work and evening runabouts. That way i can insure the scoob on a limited mileage scheme which works out loads cheaper

I've got an astra 17 td for work but get up in the morning , look at the key hooks and grab the scooby most days. Don't know why i kid myself! I might as well leave the van at work and get some use out of it ! ! !

When I had the Scoob I bought a Skoda Felicia 1.9D GLi.
I'm on my third main car since selling the Scoob but I've still got the Skoda. It recently had a rear end shunt and I thought they were going to write it off, I spent all day in the autotrader looking for another.
In five years it's been 100% reliable, will avearage 40-50mpg just running about, isn't bad to drive, dealers are excellent and with the rear seats removed you can get bigger packages in than a Mondeo hatch.
We had 02 Micra 1.0 and a 03 Corsa SXi as loan cars for the Skoda while it was being repaired. I wouldn't swap the Skoda for either.

Unlike Redkop I do have a Scoob, but like him I also have a Pajero SWB TD. Bonnet scoop and top mounted intercooler I think are the only similarities with Scoob!
Paj GR8 workhorse and lets me save Scoob for when I really want to use it.
