New Scooby owner...
#1
Hi all,
Just a quick "Hi" to eveyone, i've been lurking here for a while but thought i'd introduce myself.
I bought my first Scooby (a V reg MY99 Turbo 2000 AWD) the day after i got back from Wales Rally GB. But i'm finally picking it up from a local dealership (near Swindon, Wilts) at lunchtime today.
I can't wait, i've been bouncing around the house all weekend! Have already spoken to the service dept about getting my ECU reset after i've run a few tanks of Optimax through it, they seemed happy enough to do it for free which is nice of them.
Anyway, hopefully i won't stuff it through any hedges - after a Land Rover diesel it's going to be a bit of a culture shock!

Enjoy, and keep your foot off the loud pedal for a while.
I picked mine up after trading in a reasonably quick car and found myself doing (erm) slightly over the speed limit on the way home.
Land Rover Diesel to Scoob = Lost license in 10 mins

Cheers all, almost managed the 1st 24hrs now and no problems so far (touch wood).
Yeah i got it from Simpsons in Highworth, it's just up the road from me so very handy for servicing.
I just can't get over how quick it is! It's the nearest car i've driven that's got a bike type acceleration rush. Gawd knows what these 350+bhp Scoobys must be like to drive - lots of fun i imagine!

Yeah Simpson's seem to be an honest outfit, for a main dealer.
I go back to them and I live 130+ miles away. Be nice if they cleaned the car once in a while after a service though.
Strange they will reset your ECU?
They didnt ask me?

Well i just asked the service dept the other day and they seemed happy enough to do it, explained that i wanted to run it on Optimax only and that i'd heard a reset would be beneficial.
I mentioned that i had the procedure for doing it but that i'd rather it was done by them as it's still under warranty and i don't want to c*ck anything up on it by fiddling!
It hasn't been done yet though, need to run 2 or 3 tanks of Optimax through it first - hopefully shouldn't take long ;-)

Iwan ... welcome to Scooby ownership, sure you'll rack up some miles in the next few days
My first scoob was a MY99 V-reg in Royal Silver with Hayward and Scott BB and ITG panel filter ... was a very swift car and sounded cool
May be wrong but on these newer cars the ECU should re-set itself after a few tanks full of higher octane fuel ... I certainly didn't do a manual re-set and the car seemed to run better after a few tanks of Shell's finest .... may want to get a 2nd opinion though
Enjoy your motor
Cheers
