Best exhaust system for '99 scooby?
#1
I have recently bought a '99 impreza turbo - standard 215 bhp. I am looking for an exhaust system to boost the bhp slightly and make a meaner sound, but dont want to wake up the wife pulling into the driveway after a midnight burn!!! Any ideas? Something that gives me a decent sound but doesnt burst any eardrums!! Oh and if you have a time, any good ideas on a nice air filter?

I put a ScoobySport Decat down and centre with a prodrive backbox on my '99. Drive sensible and not too loud but give it some stick and I think it sounds great.
Get yourself to a meet or show and listen to a few. Only way to decide IMHO.
Cheers Andy

Good advice from The Boy - you need to listen to a few before you splash out m8 or you could end up disappointed.
Mine's a 99 STi5 with an HKS (full decat) - sounds awesome but would wake the Mrs I imagine !!

I'm in the same situation, it's about time the twin peashooters went!
I'm probably going to go for a system from Haywood and Scott, better flow / spool up, bit louder but not ear splittingly so
The Scoobysport stuff is similar infact I think H&S used to make all their exhausts until recently.

I bought my uk99 second hand, but it has a full magnex exhaust system. Not sure what its done to the BHP, but it looks and sounds fantastic...
Had it on the ramps recently and there's a plaque on the back pipe that say 'Not For Road Use'... wassa all dat aboot?

NOT FOR ROAD USE , it's so they can't be done for supplying non-road legal exhausts,if they are stamped thus then it's ok for them to supply them (but not for anyone to use them, not on the road anyway )
p.s. if you don't gun it past coppers you are unlikely to have a problem with legality, hopefully

Have Magnex b/box on my 99 I thought it looked a bit big when it first arrived didnt want it looking tacky but looks the boll**ks when fitted , did it myself in about half an hour with only drive on ramps.Sounds perfect in my opinion not to loud but fantastic on song.Lifetime guarantee and all bits supplied.Downpipe decat on order does make it a bit louder but should give another 15-20bhp.Pipercross panel filter fitted no complaints.

My view too.
TSL's Group n system is just right for the classic, just the right sound for the car without waking the neighbours, but floor it and it comes alive.
Also made my car much smoother, less turbo drop off between gears without the need for a dump valve.
Talk to Graham, Paul or Gavin, they will tailor the right system to your needs and they really know what their talking about!
