I have a BRD TEK3 - it's given the car low down power, makes overtaking easy - and much more scope for losing my lisence
What else do you want to know?

Tough question!
I got mine in October - and unfortunately the clutch has been a bit dicky ever since The kick in the back when it comes on boost is imense
I've had chance to compare it on the road to a pretty stock Impreza and they are pretty easy meat now
Worth it? - i think so It's given me the craving for more though turbo etc. etc

MY99: Had a decat downpipe fitted and then Tek3 done on the same day but not at exactly the same time.

The decat really made a difference to the turbo spool up times such that the car felt much more responsive at lower revs and almost explosive in acceleration. The drove the car over to the tuner for the remap. The tek3 raised the overall level of performance even further (1.15bar held) and extended the top end of the rev range to 6k+. Tuner reckons 250+ horses and 340nm torque.

I'm fortunate in that my insurer did not increase my premiums for this mod (premium is primarily value based).

Tek3 : strongly recommended and good value

If you already have the decat, etc then the Tek 3 is more of a 'cherry on top' rather than a radical transformation. I used to have a decatted/tek 2.5 car and now I'm driving around with it back as standard. Its significantly slower than it was, especially in 1st, 2nd and in particular 4th gears.

It doesn't knacker the clutch as sutch.
If your clutch is living on borrowed time anyway - the TEK3 will finish it off

slug slow i actually think my car is using slightly more fuel but that could be down to a fooked fuel pump, tek 3 definately kills off 90% off all known run down subaru components

Which has the additional bonus of justifying buying better ones

£650 for 30bhp + 30lb ft of torque, that is £21 for every one horsepower.
Not cheap when you add the VAT on top, but worthwhile if you have some spare cash.

XXGOMXX - Pre-Tek my car had Full Magnex decat and a K&n 57i.
I was at the Well Lane 6 rolling road session and got 257bhp with 252 ib/ft torque. I think the figure "may" have been a touch higher if the clutch wasn't on it's way.

Nobody is actually stating what cars they had it done on.

I'm assuming a Tek3 on a UK car will provide more of a difference from standard than a Tek3 on a JDM car????

I'm considering having one done on my MY99 TypeR. What differences can I hope to see from standard?
Brun mentioned that stock Impreza's are easy maet now, but with a TypeR, they are easy meat anyway.

Ecutek(Pat at Scoobysport) made a huge difference to my UK MY99. Yes it's expensive but compare it with, say, better brakes - everything's expensive.

The overall grin factor (and surprising £35-50k motors) for a few hundred quid makes it more than worthwhile.

Thumbs up

Gedi

I had BRD/TEK 3 done on my 99 v5 STi Type R Ltd (from the group buy - cheers Andy)

Gains:

STi V Type R with cat back exhaust only: 277bhp/230 lb ft at Powerstation
STi V Type R with TEK3, full de-cat exhaust, panel filter: 301bhp/254lb ft at Powerstation, Cheltenham.

The figures give an indication but don't tell the whole story, it is now a different car to drive. No longer does nothing happen until 4000 rpm - then bang, lots of power.
Now I have positive boost at 2000rpm and smooth power delivery all the way through the rev range - serious fun

Highly recommended

Fuel consumption:
Well I AVERAGED 14mpg the day of the mapping
I Seem to average 25mpg with a weeks normal driving - daily 10 mile drive to work along twisty B roads
If I have any motorway work to do then I average 28-30mpg - bearing in mind I have the close ratio 'box, 4000rpm = 80mph

I have to agree about certain parts taking a bashing; the bearings in my turbo are failing (know runningng a held 1.45bar)

When certain bits die - upgrade them
VF34 turbo coming very soon - off to see Bob Rawle again
