Needed to write this to let you know about Subaru Assistance incompetence........!!!
Had a slight problem with the scoob (Sti7 prodrive) whilst driving on the M4 to the Margam park stage on the Saturday, when the Check Engine warning light came on. Stopped in the next services near Swansea and tried to reset to see if it would go away, but it wouldn't.
So rang Subaru Assistance, and spoke to a muppet who said I couldn't drive long distances or at speed, and I had to get it checked out straight away. He gave me the number of the Subaru dealer in Swansea and told me to go there to get it sorted, whom I then rang only to get a "number unrecognised" tone.
Rang Assistance up again, and a different muppet then spent 10 minutes trying to find the correct number for Swansea, and then told me they'd made a mistake and actually the Swansea dealer no longer existed !!!! Instead he told me to go to the Cardiff dealer.......I asked what time they shut and was told midday, so I pointed out that it was now 11am and I would not likely get there in time for them to actually do anything !!! The muppet then didn't really know what to do - not what I would have expected from this organisation.
Eventually they arranged for the service guy to attend at the services, and he appeared 2 hrs later, and reset the ECU after diagnosing faulty Oxygen sensor.......to be fair the service guy was excellent, but the muppets at the end of the phone didn't have a ******* clue !!!!!! Missed Margem, but made Resolfen.
Cheers,
G

Dunno where he was from, but he was obviously on-call for any problems in that area. Apparently he was on another local job when I rang up, hence him getting there pretty quick.

He wasn't a Subaru guy as such, but was probably sub-contracted by Subaru to do the call-outs - I think that is how Subaru Assistance work anyway.
He turned up in a "Customer Service" van, that definitely wasn't a Subaru !!

They were top notch with me when my Immobiliser would let me start the car, they set up a conference call with an expert who talked me through the proceedure to get car started.
However, when I called them out to a drain plug pi55ing water out after a service at Mill Lane - the mechie who turned up looked at the drain plug and said he wasn't touching it as the servicing dealer has cross threaded it!! I was on my own effectively - he said he wasn't insured if he tried to fix it and it snapped off!! WTF??

Gadge, you forget to mention the bit where your two mates told you that it would just be an O2 sensor fault and it was fine to drive
