sometimes just after gear change into 3rd(plooting along/Not booting it)she gives a little backfire!.....WHY?

Mine makes odd sounds going through town sometimes like its going to start popping usually when pootling in 2nd and 3rd..

Course a full de-cat helps :-)

mine pops all the time.
full decat, VA dump valve and an uprated fuel pump.

@ ALL - so comeon you wizzes out there, why is this backfiring occuring?? I would have thought it is due to an excessive amount of fuel vapour passing through the exhaust unburnt and then igniting / rapidly burning as it reaches some part of the exhaust chain....? It is interesting to find this out though - as Wurzel recently put on a new BOV (50% VTA, 50% Recirc) , and now his exhausts sends not just shock waves but explosive pops as he lets off the excellerator.
