My choice was swayed by the service intervals 4500 on an EVO twice that on a subaru, initial perchase cost was less, and a bit softer suspension, but still mad enough to please
The EVO is still a great car though.
You had better go STI if you want a four door

Hello peep's,
I just joined your site this evening, hoping you could answer a few questions for me !
I'm thinking of selling my very much pampered IS200, and buying a Scooby or an Evo. Now I know your all more than a little biased now, but what made you buy the Scoob over the Evo ?
If I do go for the Scoob, which version should I go for ? (needs to be a four door and damn quick)
My price rang is between 12-18K.
Thanks in advance,
DUNCAN.

Hi mate, welcome to the lunatic asylum

If I had that kind of budget, I would definatley go for a late STI Type R, but I'm biased towards the Scooby

The original reason I chose a Scooby over an EVO was really price, the only EVO's in my price range would be an EVO 3, and given the chioce between a Scooby's and an EVO 3, I went for the Scoob, and havn't stopped grinning since

I went from a Lexus IS200 to my MY93 WRX. People said I was crazy:

"won't you miss the luxury/toys?".

Nope, not in the slightest

Hello.

Its like everyone says, the EVO may be a gnats foreskin quicker, but 90% of people who drive them both, always go back to the Subaru. I think the EVO has the reputation of being a Rally car, whilst the Scooby gets the reputation of being a sophisticated rally car.
Go for the Scooby.

Thanks alot guy's,
I kinda new you were gonna say that.
I must admit, the scooby does sound awesome over the evo, and I have heard it's a bit more "driver friendly".
What does "Type R" mean, and what are the different models ?

Comes down to personally preference EVO are quicker than UK scoob but then UK are fully type approved. No performance difference between the EVO and JDM scoob infact the scoob are slightly lighter weight MY for MY. They both have mechanical problems when heavily tuned. Just look the techincal forums on here and on the MLR.

If we are talking new then an MY03 STI PPP is very close to an MY00 EVO FQ300 performance wise. Price wise the sti ppp is cheaper and still full type approved.
